Debating with my buddy about these two 2017 draft picks, who is the better prospect now and who will be the better player in the future?

Obviously this is early but since it’s Hockeys Future let’s speculate.

Wait so the guy who was drafted significantly higher and is having a better season is worse?

Drake Batherson has a profile picture, Kole Lind doesn't.

That means Batherson is a more important prospect.

Really, really liked what I saw from Batherson at the WJC. I'm going him.

By what metric is he having a better season? Points scored in chl hockey?

Batherson was essentially matching him in production on a FAR worse team and then tore up the WJC.

Went with Batherson led Team Canada in scoring, don’t know much about Lind., didn’t make WJC I guess.

I don't put a lot of weight on short tournaments either way.

Batherson is much more skilled and has a higher ceiling. Went with him.

Batherson is a far superior skater which could make all the difference at the next level considering how close they are otherwise.

I guess you don't really follow hockey outside of the Canucks?

Given his opinion on Canucks matters I'm not sure how much of that he does either.

Just expectantly waiting for Gaudette to enter the league and easily surpass all of Gretzky’s records.

There’s a 6 month age difference. I’m not too worried.

In reply to the poster who posted that they are not blue-chippers, they've done well this year.

Batherson is a far superior skater? That's just flat out false.

    Lind has Batherson beat in:
    Acceleration
    Top speed
    Stride fluidity
    Agility and edge work
    Balance
Opening up space with his skating

As for their other qualities, I think Lind has better scoring instincts for the next level and I think his offense is more translatable than Batherson's.
