There really is so much bad writing on some of these sites, it bothers me, true fans that have followed hockey since Sittler, Keon, Salming.

I hate numbers crunchers that distort stats.

Steve Burtch at PPP, whose month by month predictions are horrendously inaccurate, comes to mind.

ya... it's hard to know where to fit raymond. he gets goals and points... but he doesn't seem to fit with the team. ideally we trade him and franson for a better winger at the trade deadline.

but ya... with a healthy line-up... do we just put raymond on the 4th line? not the worst idea... but i think he's too good for the 4th line... and i know that kulemin, mcclment and d'amigo worked really well as a 3rd line at one point... so having that as a 4th line means we can actually use that line as a checking line... with raymond on there, it's less effective as a checking/forechecking line.

so even though raymond isn't ideal with kadri and lupul... and i agree that kulemin looks better there.... i think raymond is more suited to a scoring role and kulemin is better in a checking role.
If we try to accommodate Raymond, Kadri's production is going to fall. He is just not that effective with just Raymond AND Lupul. Neither are good board players willing to play the puck retriever role. Kulemin does, and if Raymond is to be used on the depth scoring line, Lupul should play on the shut down line.

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Raymond - Kadri - Raymond
Lupul - Holland - Brodie ( or Clarkson)
Ashton - McClement - Orr/ D'Amigo

yeah, I was least sure about those two. I thought Marleau-Thornton were more or less permanent.

how often have they gone with the 3 centres setup rather than sticking one of pavelski/couture on the wing?

I can't remember the last time Thornton and Marleau were on a line together for more than a late game line shuffling when down a goal or two and in need of a big comeback. Probably back in 2011-2012.

When Thornton, Couture, and Pavelski are all in the lineup they go with the three of them down the middle more often than not. So I would expect to return to that when Logan is back after the olympic break. With soooooo many injuries it's just been a bit of a mish mash trying to keep some offensive consistency until some bodies come back.

I can't deal with Raymond on the second line let alone 2. For me when were healthy...

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul Kadri - Kulemin
Raymond - Bolland - Clarkson
Bodie - Mcclement - Ashton

That guy is hilarious

Last time I looked at his twitter I saw:

Kadri is better than Mcclement defensively

Phaneuf is a #4D PP specialist

Not a bad line, but I prefer Kessel - Kadri - Kessel

I'm hoping for

JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Kadri Kulemin
Holland Bolland Clarkson
Raymond McClement Bodie

Gives Carlyle a 4th line he can actually play.

Would be my line-up. Of course, if Raymonds just going to be on the fourth line I would prefer we trade him for a 2nd round pick;although Raymond`s nice to have around for insurance.

February 7 update.

Since the Christmas Break and Bozak's return.

Kessel 28 points in 19 games
Bozak 19 points in 19 games
JVR 18 points in 19 games

Beat goes on for the boys, hope Kessel and JVR don't run out of gas in Socchi.

Bozak gets a gift last night, but all in all he had a good goal called back earlier this year, so it evens out.

Last update before awhile.

Probably the best line in hockey since Bozak returned after the Christmas Break.

Not only are they putting up great numbers, but they are doing it at clutch moments in games.

We are truly lucky to have one of the best lines in hockey.

Kessel 30 points in 20 games.
Bozak 21 points in 20 games.
JVR 19 points in 20 games.

Amazing stuff, 3 PPG players in that stretch and then some.

Yup, and imagine if Lupul wasn't having a down year, he's been a point per game player with the Leafs prior to this year, but it is only a matter of time until he gets his mojo back. Imagine our offense with Lupul and Kadri hot with our first line firing, AND Bolland/Clarkson/Raymond for depth scoring as well. Our offense is going to be terrifying! We should easily have one of the top offensive units in the league, this team has potential!

Not sure why Kadri and Lupul are not more consistent this year, there are games they are dominant, and some you barely notice them.

Really we would be in trouble without our #1 line this year, it's too bad Bozak has been as hurt as much as he has been since last year. He needs to get fitter so he can avoid these injuries. If there is one critique I have of him, is he needs to put in off season training.

But that can be said for many of our players, Leafs need to up their strength and conditioning programs.

It's more likely that Holland will be sent down than Raymond to ever see time on the fourth-line

Ok I come on this site quite a bit, usually just for news and a few laughs at the bandwagon idiots... However, I had to sign up for an account just to reply to this specific post.

Yes. This.

EDIT: Smith in for Ashton/Bodie would work too, that extra C is nice.

The Bozak line is on an incredible tear since Dec 29 when Bozie came back from LTIR.

After Game 62:

Kessel 34 points, 21 games
Bozak 22 points, 21 games
JVR 23 points, 21 games

That's 79 points in the last 21 games. Remarkable production.
