+/- is useful to compare players to their team mates.
this is false.

this is false.
At least I'm consistent.
Same coach, goaltending behind them, and system.
If one player has WAY more goals go in against his team than most other players on his team, he's clearly doing something wrong.
I suppose you'll just call players you like with bad +/- "unlucky".
Which is just a euphemism fans use to defend home team players.
So is Kadri with his +17 playing well? Or "lucky"?
It's so ridiculous.
At least I'm consistent.
Those aren't two mutually exclusive statements. You can be lucky and playing well. Which Kadri is.
Wow that was easy.
So in regards to plus/minus, Kessel has been "unlucky" for 4 straight seasons?
yeah... a little too easy...
What the **** are you talking about plus minus is only tangentially related to luck, and almost everything to do with the strength of the team. "Luck" is in reference to on-ice shooting %, of which Kadri's is higher than Sidney Crosby's.
the reason Kessel is a 0 on the +/- is because of his 8 points and +5 because of it in the last 4 games. when you put up that kind of offense your +/- will go up.
No idea what you're talking about.
We're discussing +/- in this thread, not shooting percentage. Don't have.
You specifically referenced Kadri's +/- (not shooting percentage) and then asked "luck"?
And you're right... +/- has a lot to do with the strength of the team.
But Kessel is usually near the bottom OF HIS TEAM in +/-.
Good luck spinning your way out of that one...

Bozak is better than Phil defensively, but he's got a worse +/-.
Can't explain that.
