The Dillon signing should answer your question. He took Kempny's spot with Carlson last season, so I'd assume he continues in that role.

Shit luck for Kempny. He was looking terrific until he tore his hamstring and it's been a struggle for him every step of the way since then. Hopefully he can heal and make a contribution next year.

I was at the game he got injured in his fight, happened right in front of me. Vrana coming to his defense and loosing his necklace... it was a career changing moment sadly.

2018 Kempny was the perfect remedy for a Capitals team in desperate need of a LD to pair with Carlson, and came as the exact right moment. Pity that injuries seem to have taken that away from happening again.
