I need some help with my keeper league picks. We are allowed to have 5 keepers (including goalies) and 1 free rookie keeper.

Points are:
Skaters: Goals and assists = 1 point each (no points for any other stats)
Goalies: Win = 2 Points Shutouts = 1 point

I am leaning to keepig Bishop, Varlamov, and Toews. Then deciding between Thornton, Couture, O'Reilly, and Nugent Hopkins. Any help is greatly appreciated! Rookie will either be Johnson or Forsberg.

Jonathan Toews, Chi F
Pavel Datsyuk, Det F
Logan Couture, SJ F
Joe Thornton, SJ F
Ryan O'Reilly, Col F
Lee Stempniak, Cgy F
Brad Marchand, Bos F
Paul Stastny, Col F
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Edm F
Alex Steen, StL F
Kimmo Timonen, Phi D
John Carlson, Wsh D
Dennis Wideman, Cgy D
Jay Bouwmeester, StL D
Semyon Varlamov, Col G
Ben Bishop, TB G

Roman Josi, Nsh D
Johan Franzen, Det F
Matt Irwin, SJ D
Anders Lindback, TB G
Filip Forsberg, Nsh F (Rookie)
Tyler Johnson, TB F(Rookie)

By looking at your categories, goalies are worth a lot especially ones on good teams.

My take:

For sure keepers

Bishop - Vas is almost ready but if Bishop keeps doing his thing he'll still have the job.

Varlamov - Avs should be great for years to come.

Likely Keepers

Couture - Great young player with still a lot to show.

Toews - Doesn't count other categories he would help you in. His points have never been elite but c'mon, it's Toews.

On The fence

Thornton - Still can put up 70 points but for how long?

RNH - I think he has 80-85 point potential just hasn't shown it yet. But still very young.

Would not keep

ROR - A good young player but not as good as the other 6. Will also be a second liner with Skog, Duchene and Nate in the top line.

I would personally keep RNH over Thornton given ages. But Thornton likely helps you more this season.

I agree and I think Thornton is getting too old for a keeper league, he may outscore Couture for this season but I do not see him doing it again. I think the toughest choice is Nugent Hopkins vs O'Reilly. Nugent Hopkins has more upside but he has yet to reach that peak and playing with Duchene O'Reilly just seems to keep getting better.

RNH is slipping in drafts this year. Throw him back and draft him in the 4th or 5th round. Thornton will go long before him.
