put up by the Sabres this season:

(1) the worst season since the NHL ended ties.
(2) the 2nd worst point total in Sabres history (by 1)
(3) the worst points per game average in Sabres history (52 pts in 82 games versus 51 points in 78 games)
(4) the worst point total for any team in 13 years since 2000-2001 Islanders got 52 points
(5) the worst goals per game total since the expansion era began.

Some individual numbers:

0 - Number of 5 on 3 goals scored this year
5 - The most goals scored by the Sabres this season in a single game
8 - Number of road wins earned by the Sabres (13 was the next lowest total by a team this year)
10 - Number of goalies used by the Sabres this season (not all saw game time)
11 - Number of wins the Sabres earned this year that were not the result of the shootout or overtime

I still don't know how this team was able to earn 21 wins this past season.

And as bad as they were, the Sabres were competitive for quite a lot of games this season, at least until Nolan took the reigns.

Cody Hodgson had 2 less points than did Miro Satan in 97-98, although his points/game must be as good or better, as he played 5 less games.

I'm just throwing that out there to highlight how good Dom Hasek was. I think they got bounced in the 3rd round that year, and went ot the Finals the next.

The 97-98 Tampa Bay lightning actually hold that record, scoring 151 goals in 82 games compared to the Sabres 157

Factoring in the Sabres 157 goals are the goals awarded for shootout wins. They had 7 shootout wins so they essentially scored 150 goals this year.

Ouch! I cringed when I read that one!
