Ott owns their own and SJ's 1st rd picks. Curious if either side would hypothetically entertain this. Obviously we need to finish the season and/or see how trades work with the draft still.

Buf: You're not winning with Eichel (obviously) so trade him before he inevitably requests said trade and maximize the value speeding up another rebuild. And of course have 2 lottery spots in this years draft.

Best case: Draft 1 and 2
Worst case: Draft 5 and 6
Likely: 2 and 3, 2 and 4, 3 and 4

Ott: Going to get two amazing players either way in the draft, but Eichel today dramatically speeds up your rebuild.

“Jack, we know you’ve been struggling with the losing culture that has been engendered within the Sabres organization, so we’re sending you to Ottawa.”

Ottawa probably says no, in-part because Eichel is neither cheap nor cost-controlled, especially compared to two very high picks.

Things you will never hear in our lifetime.

Melnyk really stepped in paying X 10 million dollars a year.

Is John Eichel Jack's brother?

John is his actual birth name.

Eichel is worth more than the picks.

Sens would take the deal. EM might be cheap, but greedy. Eichel would sell tickets and worth the money.

Would be a really bad idea for Buffalo and set them back even further. It's basically like kicking the entire team in the junk.

No bueno.

There is so much risk on both sides with this trade. The picks could end up 1, 2... or they could end up 5, 6.

Ottawa can't trade away 1,2 for Eichel, and pay him $10 mil, and Buffalo doesn't want to risk giving up Eichel, for 5, 6... It's just a trade neither team would contemplate.

No way Ottawa touches this. Eichel is unreal but having two A+ prospects at 925k for 3 years is worth way more to Ottawa and Melnyk than one A++ player at 10 mill. The two picks could be just as good as Eichdaddy himself.

Think the value is off and Ottawa sticks with the rebuild here but the concept is interesting from a Buffalo POV. I think they should stick with Eich and Dahlin.

This reminds me of when the Avs contemplated trading what ended up being the #4 pick in Makar and Byram. Both times we thought we would hit the lottery and get #1 and now were laughing since we have Makar/Byram and saved on the potentially lesser players in Hisheier/Hughes. But interesting to think of the player(s) we would have if we moved those picks.
