Jersey sets

I'd like to purchase a game-worn jersey from a borderline-NHL-player, but I'd like to be sure, that he really worn it during a regular-season game. Unfortunately, he merely played three games at home last season. Therefore I'd like to know, if there is any fixed procedure for the NHL-teams, when they change the jerseys, they play with.
