I mean the thing is we know you couldn't win with Iginla.

For all this talk of being the best leader in hockey we never really saw it.

Always no showed the big games in the playoffs
, never made it out of the first round (outside of 04) until he was a second/third liner with Boston/Pittsburgh

Everyone saw it except you apparently.

Bure was the better one man army. Iggy the better all round player.

Like comparing a Corvette to a pickup truck.

Bure from a business standpoint as well. If you had him you wouldn't have to worry about constructing a good team because people would fill the arena anyway...

Bure was definitely better, Iginla couldn’t even dream of hitting Bure’s highs. That said, Iggy had the better career and if you were to make a pick with hindsight, I’d totally understand a majority taking Iggy.

The only one more talented than Bure in the 90’s was Lemieux.

The only way to beat Bure was to injure him.
And that they did.
And Mogilny too.

Those guys played perfect hockey.

Couldn’t steal the puck away from those guys.

Jealous Canadian players just had to go out there and break their legs.

If you ignore the low scoring in 2004 and actually watched Iginla in that era, he was the best player in the world at the time.

To be fair i'd say Iginla's competition was weaker during his best years

Even during Bure's Panthers years, his competition for the Hart trophy was
peak Jagr and Pronger

in the early 90s there was absolutely no shot at the Art Ross or Hart trophy with peak Fedorov, Lemieux.

Iginla in comparison competed with Naslund, Theodore, St Louis, Brodeur, older Roy. Not quite the same.

The Canucks, Panthers and Rangers were not selling out whenever Bure played for them

Not much to brag about as this was a historical low point quality wise regarding offensive talent, with most of the 90s stars (including Bure) either crippled or retired and the new generation (Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin) yet to come. Another guy who looked like a world beater in this little window, Markus Näslund.

Plus Forsberg was actually the best player from 2002-05 hands down
