Tampa power play is very dangerous because Kucherov is an elite shooter and probably the best playmaker on the PP. His passing is insane especially the fake one timer pass
And there is that, regardless of his skill, I watch them enough and clearly see that they are always looking for a deflection when Stamkos or Kuch one timers are blocked.

Since Marc told us to discuss, it's been 10 for 35 [[28.5%]] as of halfway point of VGK game (2 for 3 tonight).

Well done on the witchcraft, well done

Have always hated the Umbrella or variation of that for the PP.
Goal line to half wall to slot should be the main emphasis of attention.
IMO it's easier to pull a defender out of position as well as he may chase behind the net for a 2 on 1, creating an opening out front or open lane for half wall.

Goalies have to look over their shoulder to locate puck carrier if Barkov is behind the net, this is literally the best spot for Barkov if he won't shoot. His ability to use the net and body/size to shield the puck but can also be passing for a one timers should be stressed at all times.
He can come out for a jam play or wrist a puck bar down over goalie too.

It's a simple triangle setup, Gretzky used it for nearly 2 decades, "his office".
Montour and Ekblad have that ability to get pucks on net but the constant resetting of the current Umbrella, focusing farther away from the net allows for pucks leaving the OZ. It also allows the goalie to have his attention facing forwards, not side to side.

Have Ekblad and Montour waiting for one timers in faceoff dots if need be but it's beyond maddening watching most of the league use this Umbrella setup.

Why we don't try more tip in, deflections as well, not even on the PP but in general just to switch up attacks/looks while in the OZ.
Our forwards have missed the net too much of late and defensemen outside OEL are having harder time getting pucks through traffic.

Bolded parts have definitely picked up, a couple deflected or tipped goals in last few games.
Barkov is controlling the puck more on lower half wall but looks way more aggressive and allows for more fluid puck movement. Would like to see him more in trapezoid/behind net area but will take the current pace of PPGs.

Quick, accurate passing to slot or out high for a point shot and bang in the rebound or tip the shot.

Not a fan of what I've seen of the PP for most of the year, but you see the improvement in the last few games, I think it's due in large part to Kompon doing something that should have been done like three years ago: Putting Carter Verhaeghe on the first unit and actually letting him stay up there long enough to get comfortable.

How many SH have we given up in that same time?

Weve given up 7 on the season most in the league

well, we moved from bottom 10 in the league, even bein behind the sharks in PP% to 14th overall in the league on the PP
And top 10 in the PK

I think during from december-now our PK is like high 90% and our PP is around high20s - low 30s (saw the stats a bit ago but cant find them). I think colorado is the only one to score a PP goal against us this entire streak, although weve had 2 (or more) SHG against, and technically TB scored like a few seconds after theirs ended.

Anyway, I guess Kompon is finally getting his stuff together, our PP was abysmal to put it nicely.

Don't remember, but is this correlated to Carter being put back on #1 PP duties?

This simple change has been key the last few games. Barkov draws so many eyes and he has 3 outlets now.
Reinhart has 7 PP goals in his last 10.games.

Tic tac toe, triangle offense is so sweet to watch and Reino is benefitting big time.
I'm thinking the PP will finish around 10th by seasons end.

PK remains white hot, now top 5.
Hats off to special teams and coaching, they've definitely turned things around the last month or so.
