"He was a hitter, one of the greatest you ever saw. The most powerful. Never swung hard at the ball either. Just a short swing. Never swung all the way around. He hit them straight. Line drives, but they kept going. "
Cool Papa Bell

Josh Gibson, C

"Williams was a Ty Cobb as far as being an intelligent batter. He wouldn’t hit at a bad ball. All he’d want to talk about was hitting. "
Ted Lyons

Ted Williams, OF - He's not Babe Ruth, but I think he's the BPA available and he's a lefty. @Dr Pepper

"Pitchers have also been known to take steroids, not necessarily to throw harder, but rather to rebound more quickly from their previous start". BASEBALL; Taking a Swing With Steroids (Published 2004)

Roger Clemens, SP - Pitching is technique and PEDS can't help you throw harder. He didn't pitch during the dead ball era. I think he's the second-best pitcher ever and the second-best player not in the HoF. @Dr Pepper

"Some people asked me, 'Why are you playing so close to the right-field foul line?' What they didn't know was that Charleston covered all three fields, and my responsibility was to make sure of balls down the line and those in foul territory. "
Dave Malarcher

"Oscar Charleston was the Willie Mays of his day". Monte Irvin

Oscar Charleston, OF. Power, speed, and a lefty. @Dr Pepper

Please check out the quotes I added to all my HoF picks. @Dr Pepper

"All the years I played; I never got a hit off him. He threw fire. "

"I need to win, man. I've had numbers, but I've never won a World Series." "I never stop looking for things to try and make myself better." "I think of myself as 'catching' the ball with my bat and letting the pitcher supply the power."

Barry Bonds OF, L

"He was kind of a genteel person. He was friendly, but when he was on the field he went to play. He was all business. "
Squire Moore

Mule Suttles, 1B. Good pick. I wanted him. I'm just gonna have to post my pick 11 hours early. @Dr Pepper

"Some [pitchers] fool you, and some guys overpower you. Hoffman embarrasses you. "
Mike Piazza on Trevor Hoffman

We're hallway through the draft. Dang, another guy I wanted. I'm picking 11 hours early again. I'll take the only other guy with 600+ saves:
