This guy has not had more than 35 points in any season in any league, yet has 9 assists in 7 playoff games. That's a hall of fame kind of statistics. Assist ratio similar to Gretzky.

Where did he come from and how did he become Ray Bourque in the 2019 playoffs?

Has Team America finally found their stud defensemen for the 2022 Olympics?

How can the Islanders stop Pierre McGuire's favourite player?

I know your post is half joking but anyone who doesn't know who Slavin is or what his level or play/potential is then they just haven't been paying attention to hockey closely enough over the past 2-3 years.

He may have been born in Denver, but he was raised in Erie. Tiny little town that's just starting to explode the last few years in northern Colorado. Not a hockey hotbed, especially then. Played in Colorado Springs for Colorado College. He gets a shocking lack of ink in Colorado, as I see him as one of.... if not the best ever..... NHL player born and raised in Colorado. Until he was 16 and left for Chicago in the USHL he played local youth hockey the whole way.

I don't care if youre being sarcastic.

The SlavinPesce is an amazing thing to behold. Every Slavin thread should partially be about Pesce.

Tells you how bad the Avalanche were at drafting back then..

They traded their 1st to get Varlamov that turned out to be Flip Forsberg for Was who foolishly traded him to Nashville

Then they whiffed on the 2nd and 3rd rd and those players never played in the NHL.

To think they couldnt take a flyer on a hometown kid when back then they needed defense in the worst way. SMH

They also could have had Carlo but traded down.

9 points with only 2nd unit PP time (and that 2nd unit was missing 2 of its players most of the series, and our PP sucks in general). He's never going to be what people consider an offensive d-man, but don't sell him short on offense either. He is one of the best skating d-men in the league, has a beauty of a breakout pass and is an underrated puck handler who has no problem breaking the puck out of the zone by himself. And his defensive skills are obvious.
