It's that high?I'm tired of watching the PP setup work to get J. Staal point blank slot one timers, with a sterling 15% conversion rate.

I think that has more to do with dominating a bad team playing their backup goalie and not being able to capitalize (mostly because we had too much hesitation in those split second decisions) than it is about overall expectations. When it comes to games you "should" win, an OTL is indeed deemed "unacceptable". We wouldn't be having the same conversation if this had been Washington or the PenguinsThat's very wise of you to admit.
Similar to, it would seem, the general expectations of the team from HFCanes members. I'm not going back to look at the "Where will the Canes finish" thread, but the general tenor has been that of low expectations for the year. Then, in the first game, those expectations suddenly skyrocket to the point where an OTL is unacceptable. It's almost like wanting the team to tank at the end of the season and being mad about barely losing a game.
At some point, the rubber (desires/predictions/expectations) has to meet the road (losses), otherwise you have to face the reality that you've been lying to yourself in a very public way.
I’m sure he meant 1.5%.It's that high?
If not faster, he was definitely working his ass off.I thought Williams looked ok for his fisrt game as capt. He seem a little faster than usual to me.
The "same Canes hockey" **** is absurd. Fortunately others have commented already, but last night's "domination" was polar opposite of the Peters era "domination". Guys going to the middle of the ice, tons of HQ scoring opportunities, taking risks, etc was so refreshing to watch. If they played every game like that they're in the playoffs.
I don't understand what's happened with Faulk. He used to be so good at using his positioning on the boards, keeping his head up and making a clean, safe outlet (a la Pesce). Now, he wins that positioning battle but blindly throws the puck anywhere.
I was thinking about this over my morning coffee. Part of the promise of Young Faulk was that he would mature and play a smarter game. Somehow he has gotten dumber. I don't know how that happens. It's like his hockey IQ is actually on a decline, which makes no logical sense at all.
Lemme try to make sense of it. Justin has always been not smart. When he was younger, he didn't know he was not smart, so he just did stuff. Now that he's older, he realizes he's not smart, and he tries to think about things. But you can't do that in the NHL. It's better to just do things and not think, even if you're not smart. I think Justin should dumb his game down to the absolute basics and allow his instincts to take over. Strip it all down and just play hockey, like he did when he was a kid. It honestly can't get any worse.
Justa Justin thing. My theory is that he's been taking passing advice from Justin Williams.

I think we got a ton of attempts in the dead slot- you can see the orange over the red before the color blends in with the red in the logo.

For reference, here is a Bill Peters heat map.
(Out shot, out chanced the Isle, lost 3-0)
