Big year coming up for him. I think there's a lot of fair questions around exactly what level of player he's going to be at this point.

We know Trotz systems are an offensive black hole for guys, but I still believe the expectations have always been for more then what we have seen from Barzal so far.

He should have more opportunities to be a star player this year so it will be interesting to see how he does.


If he can produce 80-90 points(IMO where he should be given the hype and the player), his next contract should wind up in the 10M range.

But if he puts up another "meh" 65 point type season, with a $10M Qualifying offer... it could be a tough situation for the two parties involved. I dont think he's worth anywhere near $10M if he can't be a PPG+ star offensive guy.
