According to Jeff Blair of Rogers Sportsnet, the Toronto Blue Jays might trade R.A. Dickey, Drew Hutchison, and one of their position players in a package for a younger starting pitcher.

This is Shapiro we're talking about...

Pillar is young and cost-effective right now and for years to come, and as long as he's here, you have CF filled. Shapiro isn't going to be such an idiot that he'd just trade him unless he was getting substantial value (I'm not sure Wheeler fits that type).

Doesn't really solve the Mets needs, plus Wheeler isn't returning until midseason so the Jays would need to find another 3 starters.

Well, the Mets are losing Cespedes and Murphy, wouldn't they need a 2B/CF?

And mid-season works out. Pitch Osuna till midseason, then replace him with Wheeler when Osuna is nearing his innings limit, and he goes back to the pen.

Heh, could be interesting, especially given that we have replacements for Pillar available.

Wheeler was a top 10 prospect in MLB 2 years ago, and his MLB record has been solid. He'd fill a huge need in the organization as a young #2 to slot behind Stroman for the next 4 years.

As much as we love Pillar's dives...he's a perfect guy to sell high on. Pompey has a higher ceiling than Pillar and looks to be ready for the MLB, and Alford is a year behind him.

Replacing Travis might be a bit tougher because Goins is a clear step down, but for a young #2 type pitcher, it might be worth it too.

single game tickets for 2016 go on sale through all ticket channels on february 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., while renewals for existing season ticket and flex pack holders starts on november 19. New flex pack sales will begin on november 23, and group sales and luxury suite sales will commence on november 25. Complete information on promotions, events and 2016 ticket pricing can be found at bluejays.com.

For only the second time in six seasons, the club has increased prices. Regular game ticket prices will increase $3 to $6 (excluding in-the-action seats) while premium game tickets will increase $4 to $10 each, representing an average increase of just over 10%. Tickets remain available for less than $20 in the 500 level, while jr. Jays saturdays continues to be a family friendly option with 50% off for kids in select areas. Additionally, like other teams in the city and in major league baseball, the blue jays will test dynamically priced single game tickets for selected match-ups during the season. The ballpark pass will no longer be available.

"the blue jays continue to be the most reasonably priced ticket compared to other professional sports in toronto," said stephen brooks, senior vice president, business operations. "and combined with our promotional schedule, it delivers an unparalleled experience for fans."

His record is solid, but he's a big risk considering he's coming off a Tommy John Surgery, and he likely won't play until June of the upcoming season. That's my problem. If those kinds of assets up for trade, I'd rather the Jays get someone who's a surefire bet than a question mark.

That's the player you pick out of the four? Yikes.

I'm high on Travis too, but his season was cut short before he's even had the time to prove himself yet.

Wheeler was supposedly on the market.

Dickey/Hutch/Pillar or Travis for Wheeler?

The incentive for the Mets to move Wheeler is that they already have a really strong starting rotation and can afford to move one of them. Getting Dickey and Hutchison as part of the return doesn't make sense, not to mention the $12 million+ they would be adding to a payroll that already has very little wiggle room.

You're down on Pillar?

A 27-year-old low-cost CF with years of control, gold glove finalist at premium defensive position, coming off breakthrough season where he posted a very respectable .278 average, 12 homers, 25:4 sb ratio, pretty good minor league numbers, one of our better postseason performers, and no character concerns.

What's not to like? I understand it's not as if he's untouchable or even a core piece. But "yikes" seems out of place.

Logically Lagares takes CF, maybe set up a platoon with Nieuwenhius or find another lefty CF (Span?) to take over. Their best bet is to have Flores move over to 2nd as well, and I'm sure if they're looking to move a pitcher they'd be asking for Tulo.

He was great defensively, but he also probably represents a good trade chip after skyrocketing his value this past season. He still has a problem with pitch recognition and has pretty much Adam Jones level plate discipline, however with not nearly the same power levels. Maybe his HR/FB was unsustainably low thanks to an incredibly high IFFB% and there's potential pop still there, but if anybody watched him it was pretty clear that he's a guy that makes a large amount of "bad" contact.

I don't mind keeping him because he provides legit value in his defence and baserunning, but he probably won't have a higher value than he does now, and it'd be good to move him in a package for a pitcher.

Toronto Blue Jays interim general manager Tony LaCava guests on Dean Blundell & Co. to discuss the reasons for signing pitcher Marco Estrada to a two-year contract worth US$26M, whether the club has spoken to David Price, the role for Aaron Sanchez in 2016, R.A. Dickey’s status with the club, if he received interest from other teams about his players, if he’s interested in having the interim label removed from his title, and who the starting second baseman is next season.
