People are underrating his longevity and accumulations here. He's not a 'hall of fame talent' but I think there are voters who will deem him of having a 'hall of fame career'

400 goals and just under 1000 points is a very good NHL career

Not even close lol. He was a great player for a long time and had a lot of success, but he was never even an elite player. He should have his number in the rafters, but he's not even close to a HoF career.

Longevity means nothing if you don't have the numbers behind it. And no 972 points in over 1500 games is not that good.

Good for any era, except when you compare to the eras they played in.

They were never dominant players. They never won important individual hardware.

Sure they amounted points, might as well add other compilers like Turgeon too.
