Yes I may
If you are truly a potential owner of a professional sports team, I'd have serious reservations regarding the ultimate success of your business plan that starts with a: "What do you think?" post in a hockey forum.

ETA: Even more sadly, you might not be the first to try it. :ha:

it is unlikely that Tucson is switching leagues.... it has already been finalized that the RR's will be retained by SEG as the AHL Affiliate.... there has been no decision if Utah will seek an ECHL Affiliate... as the existing franchise hasn't had one since 2022/23

The Grizzlies probably would be smart to be the affiliate. Then again the Grizzlies being independent may work but nothing spells disaster more the an NHL city having a minor league team of another NHL market, especially a rival. It's no wonder Abbotsford wasn't a sustainable AHL market until it became Vancouver's AHL club. It's almost as bad as Albany being a NJ Devils farm team in a market full of Ranger fans.

Some can argue about Adirondack being a good ECHL club for the Devils but in reality the ownership is local, the coach a hometown boy, and the identity of the franchise is all local. The Thunder tomorrow could change its affiliate and other then a few good provided players it would be business as usual. Adirondack is a good organization and there are other good NHL organizations that would be equally happy to send some of their talented developing young players. Utah's ECHL club would be smart to affiliate with the new NHL club or just retain its independent status and promote itself as a more affordable family friendly alternative but NEVER ever would it be smart to affiliate with someone else.

Colorado has that Grizzlies affiliation....Utah-Colorado Eagles----Avalanche.... Tucson has already been retained by SEG as the affiliate despite separate ownership.... there hasn't been a decision I've seen where either Tahoe or Bloomington have announced affiliations yet....

ECHL affiliations to my knowledge are year to year at best I believe, but could be wrong. I would think the Grizzlies either being SLC's affiliate or being totally independent with their own identity would be more appealing then being affiliated with what will definitely be a regional NHL rival in Colorado.

That may be but since everything is year to year is it too late to not be affiliated with Colorado? I know Adirondack sometimes announced pretty late about their Devils affiliation.. The one year they had a "semi" dual affiliation with Tampa which worked fairly decent. Either way I don't live there so it really doesn't matter. It's just tough to see the poor little guy (ECHL Grizzlies) squeezed out or negatively impacted by the new big guy on the block (NHL Salties lol).

what NHL Team is moving the Utah Grizzlies up when there's 32 AHL Teams.... you ought to be better than this how again did Charlotte acquire the famed Albany River Rats and where is Capital District Sports currently @Ratitiude..... where has it been stated Utah is leaving..... they aren't..... have the Grizzlies ever played in the Delta Center under Ryan Smith or Larry Miller? NOPE WHY was Maverik Center bullt then in West Valley City.... is SEG doesn't own either franchise

No where in rat's post does he say moving Utah to the AHL. He's talking about which AHL/NHL team the ECHL Grizzlies would affiliate with.
