No, we'll blame it on losing our second best defenseman (Keith) and second best forward (Benn) instead. :sarcasm:

I'm Canadian and could not really care less if they win or lose this tournament. I'll care when the Olympics roll around.

I'd love to see team NA win.

Though Canada will win.

Dear Canada fans,

Please no need to come and appeal that McDavid was not playing for the main team.

Thank you.

And if Canada wins, no need for everyone else to come and appeal why it doesn't count. It works both ways.

Dear whoever,

Enjoy your fantasies of Canada not winning while you can.

That is all.

Have to wonder at the thought process that goes into making such a thread.

Probably the people complaining it doesn't count as a best on best because canada and the states were handicapped not being able to pick the u23 players.

I won't be upset if Canada doesn't win gold tho just want the hockey to be great

If Canada doesn't win it won't be because they didn't have McDavid. Anyone who complains about that is foolish.

The US has a bigger complaint because the talent pool over there isn't as strong and guys like Eichel and Johnny G would make a bigger impact.

No excuses for anybody. Every team is missing a few a players. Every team is under huge pressure to coalesce in a few short weeks.

The McDavid excuse is invalid as the U.S is missing more from the U-23 crowd in Gaudreau, Saad, Eichel, Ghostisbehere etc.

The Benn, Keith absences are invalid as every team faces missing key players. The Czechs are missing several, Swedes don't have Steen, U.S has no Kessel/Faulk/Johnson etc. For most team losing Benn/Keith is a death blow, but they still have guys like Girioux on the 4th line and left Subban competent off the roster.

If Canada doesn't win it is because they ran into a better team. They may have he best players but hockey is a team game. Sweden, U.S could easily beat them if they get complacent. N.A and Russia could too, maybe even Finland. Problem is that these Canadian players are all super competitive and Babcock seems to know how to keep them all hungry and dialed in.

How does the US not naming Kessel and Faulk to the team even remotely compare to Keith and Benn who were named to the team but injured? That's the equivalent of Canadians complaining about Subban, Letang, and Hall off the team when they weren't even named in the first place. Did Erik or Jack Johnson get hurt because they've both played games in the tournament?
