Canada Eh?
I just have a question for you guys.

If the Panthers had won against the Devils, they would have faced an emotionally drained Flyers team.

What do you think the Panthers' chances would have been against them and to go even farther (like the ECF)?

I ask because I am curious and because I was not viewing the Panthers' HFboards very closely at the time.

Thank you in advance.

They blew a 3-2 series lead, and lost in 2OT in Game 7 to the eventual Eastern conference champs.

I don't see why they couldn't make the Finals then.

Flyers would have easily won that series. IIRC:

- Bergenheim had a broken foot
- Fleischmann had a broken hand
- Garrison had something (foot? don't remember, he missed one game and didn't look his usual self)
- Theodore had something, on/off the line-up throughout the series vs. NJ
- Weiss was already suffering from some sort of a wrist problem, he refused to get it done during the offseason and it kind of lead to him leaving as a UFA the next year

Probably someone else as well.

You make a solid point.

Didn't we stumble into the playoffs too, badly?

I tend to agree. Plus, our depth really wasn't established at that point and we literally had nothing to replace those key guys with. Not even a decent scrub.

Weiss was literally ready to fall apart.

  • Two bad wrists
  • Shoulder problems
  • Hurt groin in the past
  • Probably at least one concussion at some point
Then sure enough next year he did.

He had back issues too didn't he?

If he was a horse they would have sent him to the glue factory, but then the genius' in Detroit sign him. Go figure, but that just opened up Cap space for our pal Bolland. Another brain fart.
