How common is it to play for 3 Canadian teams and no U.S teams?

Just realized that Toronto has at least 2. Sundin and Phaneuf. Of course Phaneuf's career isn't over yet so that may change but are there any others who played for 3 or more Canadian teams without ever playing for a U.S team?

How far do you want to go back? Joe Malone: Montreal Canadiens, Quebec Bulldogs, Hamilton Tigers. All NHL.

Post expansion of course. With all of the teams available it just seems like it would be rare to play for 3 teams in the NHL and all of them be Canadian.

It doesn't completely fit your criteria because he later played with SJ, but Damphousse started his career with Toronto, Edmonton, and Montreal.

And Gary Leeman was with Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver before ending his career with 2 games for StL.

John Kordic was close too. Montreal, Toronto, Quebec and just 7 games with the Capitals.

Bill Derlago also close. 516 games with Van, Tor, Wpg, and Que and 39 for Bos.

It seems it's pretty rare to play for only 3 Canadian teams and no U.S. Oddly enough both Leafs that did it were Captains as well.

Another really close one - Tim Hunter played 769 games with Cgy, Que, and Van before ending his career with 46 games with SJ.

Malone technically did it, but it would be by default. There were only Canadian teams in the NHL when Malone played.

Boston would enter the year after Malone's last.

Honestly thought there would be more. I can think of several players playing for 3 or more Canadian teams but also playing for U.S teams. Another Captain of the Leafs also played for 3 Canadian teams but he also played for STL and NJ.

I thought for sure I would find more. But searching isn't easy either.
Got to be more though....

Well, Scott Thornton achieved that up to a certain point (where he was just traded to Dallas). Same thing for Scott Pearson.

Realise the preference was for post-expansion, but here is a list of some from the early years (far easier to find the players from the defunct teams):

Amos Arbour (Canadiens, Tigers, St. Pats)

Billy Bell (Wanderers, Canadiens, Senators)

Burt Corbeau (Canadiens, Tigers, St. Pats/Maple Leafs)

Jack Coughlin (Arenas, Bulldogs, Canadiens, Tigers)

Jack Marks (Wanderers, Arenas, Bulldogs; probably player with the fewest games to do it, with just 7 career NHL games)

Jack McDonald (Wanderers, Canadiens, Bulldogs, St. Pats)

Harry Mummery (Arenas, Bulldogs, Canadiens, Tigers)

Dave Ritchie (Wanderers, Senators, Arenas, Bulldogs, Canadiens; possibly only one to ever play for five Canadian teams)

Yup. Assumed there would be several before expansion just due to the percentage of Canadian teams.

Ganton Scott too. St. Pats/Leafs, Tigers, Maroons

Kassian played for Buffalo and Raymond had 4 games for the Ducks.

Yup. Close but no cigar. Really hard to search for this but is it possible that Sundin and Phaneuf are the only ones post expansion?

Need to load up the league stats into a relational database and then write some SQL! Really tough to be definitive just clicking around on hockeydb, which is what I've been doing a bit.

In the case of Phaneuf he had a modified no trade and obviously Ottawa was one of the teams on his list he would agree to be traded to.

And he is still playing so there is a chance he ends up on a different team before the end of his career.
