Cameron Lund was drafted by the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats in the first round, 17th overall at the 2020 QMJHL American Draft and by the Green Bay Gamblers in the second round, 24th overall at the 2020 USHL Futures Draft. Deciding to keep his NCAA eligibility, Lund opted for the USHL route. He played 62 games for the Gamblers this season, scoring 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points. Lund also played in one game for the US National Team Development Program U-18 squad, picking up an assist. He was named to the USHL All-Rookie Second Team. Another big center with questionably-translatable offensive tools who might develop into a 2-way middle sixer if everything breaks right. Looks like we have a type this year.

They also say he's not a 200 ft player either.

Sure, but some are hating on the pick because he's 6'2? He's seen as a very one-way offensively skilled guy, the kind of boom/bust that people like past the 1st round.

Hating on this pick because he's 6'2. Really?

The second comment on this post is someone saying "Hate it." Is there any reason to hate it other than seeing his height and thinking he's not skilled enough?

They might have had someone else in mind for the pick
Or perhaps they were looking for the "in your face" element to his game.
It's rather absurd to think height equates to less skill

It's the reason some people dislike the Bystedt pick. There were a lot of people last night thinking he was some bruising untalented centre instead of a good skating skill guy.

I thought that was mainly because he was on nobody's radar/wish list and was a reach

Yes he was a reach so people were surprised but a lot just looked at his size and misjudged the kind of player he is.

It really looks like small and fast players are en vogue to the point that people actively dislike players with size and I think had the Sharks kept 11 OA and drafted Geekie it would have exploded.
