Went with Lavoie again.

Not the biggest fan of McLeod. He'll be a warm body in the bottom six for a few seasons, but I don't see the offensive potential or aggressiveness to be much more than that.

IMO McLeod is a good passer and has a good shot. His skating speaks for itself. My issue with him reaching his potential is that he is extremely passive in battles. Hopefully he can add some muscle and watch the movie Dodgeball this offseason.

Readiness vs Potential?

I tend to lean more toward Potential myself.

I personally vote by trade value, which is essentially a combination of both.

At this point I think my biggest surprise is how Konovalov seems the clear choice among the three goalies…not that I disagree necessarily, but NHL readiness and potential-wise, Skinner is ahead and tied at this point in my opinion. I’m not overly excited about either prospect, just genuinely curious how everyone else is ranking them right now.

I think people are fixated on the struggles he had in his debut against the Sens this year. Definitely wasn’t an ideal start but when you consider that it was his NHL debut and the first game action he’d seen in 10 months it is understandable that he wasn’t at his best. He was absolutely dominant in the AHL this year and has been tracking upwards in a big way. He’s their top goalie prospect to me and my vote at this spot.

I do think the organization feels like they have a legit #1 goalie in the system already since they haven’t drafted a goalie at all in either of the last two drafts. I know they were short on picks but still surprised me that they didn’t take a swing on a guy later on in two straight drafts.

I personally vote by trade value, which is essentially a combination of both.

Some players could have low trade value though, if they haven’t been scouted much or they’re under the radar. That’s also why I hope we don’t use Samorukov as a throw away in a trade.

I understand where you are coming from but you could also say that McLeod hasnt really done anything either. You see glimmers of the speed and size but he also didnt get much accomplished in his time up last year.

No but he will be an NHL regular this season I expect. For me him and Bouchard are our most ready prospects and both are already penciled into full time playing positions by Tippett barring unforeseen circumstances in training camp or injury.
