2018 HFNHL RedWings GM after a failed, attempt to retool the roster. GM Niece junior announced they would be entering a full on rebuild. Since then the team has seen many very bad seasons. However, this season the HFNHL RedWings started to make moves to improve the roster without hurting the rosters future too drastically.

Well looking at the roster from the beginning of the season tells you this is a team whose goal next year is to at least compete for the playoffs.

Coming in just over the course of this season are 2stud defensemen on the back end in Seth Jones, Aaron Ekblad both of them not even officially on their primes. Jamie Drysdale has taken steps forward this year as well an will be a fixture on the back end for years to come.

At forward Timo Time Meier, Jordan Kyrou and Matt Duchene headline current and future stars. Well Mantha and Skinner return to being very effective top 6 forwards. Well forward Cole Perfetti took a big step forward this year he still appears to be a season away.

In net Jake Oettinger has firmly secured his role as the teams future in net going forward. With a pool of unknowns after him.

Going into 2022-2023 the roster is projected to look something like this

Jeff Skinner-Matt Duchene-Timo Meier
Jordan Kyrou- FA/Trade/Brassard- Anthony Mantha
Vladislav Namestinkov-FA/Trade/Brassard-Carl Haglin
FA/trade- Derek Ryan- FA/Trade

Depth
Joel lesperrance, Dakota Joshua, Cole Perfetti, Alexei Protas

Seth Jones-Aaron Ekblad
Matt Roy- Jamie Drysdale/Ilya Lubsuykin
Zach Bogosian- Jamie Drysdale/Ilya Lubsuykin

Depth FA

Jake Oettinger
FA/Trade
Andrew Hammond

Notable prospects
Oskar Olausson
Cole Perfetti
Alexei Protas
Lukas Cormier
Lukas Svejovsky
Dmitri Kuzmin
Jeromie Porier
Pierre Oliver Joseph
Nolan Allan
Robert Mastromonie

They also go into the draft with 2 firsts(pending some crazy run) 2 2nds a 3rd, 4th, and 2 6ths to add more prospect depth. 1 of the firsts being in the top 10.

This is a team hoping to not just be built strong for the short term but the long term as well. With some players not hitting full stride yet, and others continue to grow. With a still strong pool combined with a young roster. The HFNHL Wing are happy with the progress so far.

With Ekblad, Jones and Drysdale on the blueline and Oettinger in net, the foundation of a strong team is in place (I always believe in building from the back). Kyrou and Meier will give you dynamic talent up front, although obviously you will need to continue adding around them before you have the depth to seriously compete. Hopefully Free Agency offers you some forwards worth their contracts. 🤞🏼

Hope is Perfetti is ready to go next year, Protas likely fills a depth role next year on the Caps, Joshua is a 4th liner for the Blues. Olausson is raw on a deep Avs team, but they are starved for cap. Hopefully with some picks this year can add some guys to help the long term at forward still. But yes free agency/trade as I see a few teams who will need to make serious moves next year to be cap complient hopefully make some deals with them. Like I did grabbing Meier.
