This draft is super important for the Oilers after I went hard in for a specific individual only to come up short on the goal in this case by a single pick. That being said there is alot to be excited about in this class an hopefully we have a few hits.
2nd overall Adam Fantilli NCAA Michigan Wolverines 6'2 187 pounds Center.
In his draft year all Fantilli did was win. He won a WJC and WHC gold medal, to go along with his hobey baker award for the best college player. So it would shock many who didn't know, that he wasn't the guy I was originally going to take here. However with the bold moves, it became clear to start our franchise we needed to build up the middle. Grabbing a potential franchise center, is a solid way to do so. He's got the size, shot an skating to be an extremely effective player. He also unlike alot of players is not afraid to throw around the body and be physical. Like all players his age he has some stuff to work on in the defensive zone, and sometimes he gets abit too fancy with plays. But these are flaws that come with time an proper coaching

6th overall Ryan Leonard NDTP 5'11 181 pounds Winger.
Ryan Leonard is a rare breed, a player who is offensively gifted, well being an absolute pain in the ass to play. Many scouts liken him to a player like Tkachuk/Marchand. Will he have the offensive upside as those listed above maybe not. However is he's even a slightly lower version of those players, we would be more than happy. We feel he is the perfect player who helps open up the ice in our top 6 for our more highly skilled player, well bringing his own blend of talents to the table.

17th overall Calum Ritchie OHL Oshawa Generals 6'2 187 pounds Center
Cal Ritchie biggest thing everyone talks about when mentioning him in scouting reports. Is his hockey IQ being off the charts. Combine that with soft hands an a big body with good skating. The flag on him as to why he's not a top prospect by most accounts, he seems to be a player who cracks under pressure, an does not like to have the game on his stick. He's almost too unselfish which many scouts attribute to his lower point totals. Combine that with multiple shoulder surgeries an there is a few causes for concern.

20th overall Otto Stenberg Sweden 5'11 181 pounds Winger
Otto Stenberg is the definition of a jack of all trades master of none. Some scouts think his shot might be top 5 in the class, but otherwise everything else is just good. Nothing elite, but no discernible flaws either. He's the perfect compliment winger to a good center like Ritchie, in he's not afraid to engage despite his size an makes the game slow down to open up the lanes for his more skilled team mates.

He plays a power forward game big strong player with a big shot. He's is solid defensively, an physically which means he's can play up an down the line up. The red flag? He's seems lazy an coasts on his talent alone. Something that does not get you to the NHL as everyone is bigger stronger an competing for the same limited number of spots.

71st overall Cam Allen OHL Guelph Storm 5'11 190pounds Defensemen
Cam Allen went into this season ranked by most as one of if not the top Defensemen. However after winning OHL rookie of the year Allen an the Storm got off to a rough start. They fired a coach, then had another coach step away very early. The team had a bunch of termoil. Allen has shown flashes of a brilliant two way defensemen, but seems to be a player who is trying to do too much due to lack of skill around him. There is a few concerns about his confidence an his mental wellbeing, playing a role aswell in his plays decline. As during the WU18 he was voted captain an showed more than a few flashes of the player people think he can be.

81st overall Scott Ratzlaff WHL Seattle Thunderbirds 6'0 174 Goalie
I'll be honest here this was one of the 2 guys I didn't really care for here. Being deep in goalie prospects I felt comfortable not taking one. However it's not shocking why my AGM likes the kid. He is calm an cool under pressure, an is smart enough to not over commit to a play. Alot of people would point to his team for why his numbers were good, but he played insanely well at the top prospects game and Hilinka Gretzky cup to show he can be that good. The big concern I have is size at 6 foot like the goalie I took last year he has a big hill to overcome. Fingers crossed he's the next Wolf.

97th overall Rasmus Kumpulainen Finland 6'2 196 pounds Center
Kumpulinen follows our trend at center of big strong two way centers. He's has all solid skills, nothing is overly flashy or jumps out as a major strength but no fatal flaws either. Kumpulainen is an ok skater, an that is one of those aspects that unless improved upon will cause issues later on if he's to continue to develop his skating does have to improve.

Macdonell is a energy guy plain an simple, he's has leadership qualities and a motor that he is always using. However, nothing in his tool box is better than average. He's your prototypical 3rd/4th line winger, how high depends on how his offense can translate.

117th overall Johnathan Castagna Canada's College circuit 6'2 185 pounds Center
I'll be honest here I'm not sure what my AGM scouted him with because I can barely find much on this guy. He plays in an unusual league, playing in a college circuit in Canada. Some people say he's going to NCAA next year or the BCHL? The scouting info I found seems to suggest he does his best work infront of the net. Think guys like Thomas Holmstrom, Johan Franzen, Joe Pavelski. He's is hard to move out from the front of the next an deflect picks well. I don't expect him to be anywhere near these guys given how little I've seen reported on him. But maybe he can carve out a niche.

177th overall Kalem Parker WHL Victoria Royals 6'0 187 pounds Defensemen
A rare blend Parker is a offensive minded, physical defender. He is a great skater, an a strong on the puck especially in transition. The problem is with him is like most offensive dman is his defense is just ok, combine this with not an elite offensive out put it's easy to know why he's not a early pick. However there is enough there as a player to be intrigued.

My first I think ever Battalion player I grew up watching them when they were in Brampton of course. 2 stand out things of Romani is his speed, and his shot. Both are very good, the rest is well ok. Some concerns I've seen on the limited scouting reports an viewings is his size, not in his height but his strength he very much looks like a boy ln the ice.

One of 2 players I acquired late picks to secure. He may not even be drafted, but every time I saw my father he mentioned both Zidlicky an Sharpe when talking hockey. Now he's not saying they are going to be stars but he thinks they could be effective NHLers. Zidlicky is son of former Dman Marek Zidlicky, so he knows what it's going to take to go pro. Zidlicky is a workhorse he competes hard an plays on both ends of the ice. He appears to be the perfect 3/4 C who plays a big role on the PK think guys like Draper/Beagle etc.

222nd overall Chas Sharpe OHL Mississauga Steelheads 6'3 195 pounds Defensemen.
Jack of all trades master of none type dman. He is a solid guy who has all the tools to be a very effective bottom pairing dman who plays on the 2nd PK/PP unit. I probably heard more about him than Zidlicky. So again I took a shot with one of the last picks on our draft.
