The Kings entered Saturday's entry draft having the 25th overall pick (a very familiar spot for the club) and no 2nd or 6th rounders. Despite having their eyes on several potential first rounders including Quentin Musty and Oliver Bonk, the team received an offer from the Red Wings for the pick and after some negotiations the following trade took place:

To DET: LAK 2023 1st (25th overall)
To LAK: Noah Ostlund (P), DAL 3rd in 2024, NYI 7th in 2024

So in a hilarious turn of events, the Kings end up with another first round Swedish forward, joining a glut of others from recent years. GM Mike McEwan swears he's not intentially stockpiling Swedes. The rest of the draft unfolded as follows:

3rd round, 89th overall: Sawyer Mynio, D.
4th round, 121st overall: Marc-Andre Gaudet, D (note: drafted in the NHL in 2022)
5th round, 153rd overall: Hannes Hellberg, RW
7th round, 217th overall: Ryan Conmy, RW

Overall we are very happy with Ostlund and the four selections, plus picked up two extra picks for 2024 bringing that total up to ten which would be the most for the Kings in years.
