CFHF Prospect Poll: #10
We did this last summer, lets do it again.

I am going to start with some guidelines.

To be considered a prospect in these polls they must be under 26 (as of July 1st, 2015) and have fewer than 80 games of NHL experience (including playoffs).

I will set polls to expire in 48 hours. After 48 hours a winner shall be declared unless the winner has less than a 10 vote lead. At which point there will be a 24-hour poll that pits against each other anyone within 5 votes of the leader. There will not be multiple runoff-polls so a win by 1 in a run-off poll will be final. After a winner is declared the next poll will be put up at my earliest convenience.

The current plan is vote on all 37 eligible prospects, but if participation dissipates it may stop sooner.

List of eligible prospects:
Agostino, Ken
Andersson, Rasmus
Arnold, Bill
Bennett, Sam
Bruce, Rily
Carroll, Austin

After his performance in playoffs and in Penticton, I must say I'm disappointed Ferland isn't a top ten prospect on these boards.

And almost everything in between those 2 impressive stints was disappointing

How long has he been sober, though? I think it's fair to err on the side of optimism with Ferland, given there were some serious off-ice changes which could feasibly lead to a sharp turn in his progression.

Well he had a serious alcohol problem before. And he had concussion issues.

He played great at the start of the season in the AHL (leading scorer), got called up, played well and got sent down not because of his play, but because vets came back. Then he struggled a bit. His confidence was clearly broken.

Got called back up and showed why he's going to be the best pest in the NHL.

since last season, but that is no excuse for being a bad AHL player. No player considered a top 10 prospect should be that bad in the minors.

He didn't struggle a bit, he was ****ing terrible. He was one of the worst players on the team. The only reason he got called up when he did was because Wolf was injured.

If I'm wrong about Ferland, then so be it. I'm just a bit bullish on him right now. Not top 5 bullish like CP, but bullish to the extent that I think his tools will translate.

He's a good prospect. You love what he showed during the playoffs last year. When the game mattered most he was a monster. Who cares about what he did in the AHL. Bouma was poor in the A; but is playing major minutes in the NHL now.

I think he should be in the top 10.

Except Bouma wasn't poor at all in the AHL

When I say Ferland was terrible, I mean he did nothing and I mean NOTHING to help the team win. He obviously wasn't producing, but he wasn't driving to the net, he wasn't playing physical and it just didn't seem like he was putting in 100%. Bouma may not have had pretty AHL numbers but he brought it every shift of every game just like he has in the NHL.

I think what you have been able to do in the best league in the world is more important than AHL accomplishments.

Ferland outside the top 10 is questionable. Potential is somewhat overrated on HF. Oh well, that's what polls are for.

Potential is what prospects are all about though. Being NHL ready or close to NHL ready as a 4th liner is not as valuable as a guy with top 6/top 4/starter potential.

I prefer what the guy has done so far in the best league in the world compared to guys we hope make the NHL. Until someone surpasses Ferland, he is the better prospect.

I never said any of that. I said "prefer". It depends, for the most part it's true that there are prospects , with hockey talent and potential wise that are better than Ferland. Until those players become something more than Ferland, for now he is the better prospect so far. Ferland could be a ahead of of couple of players in the top 10 but not top 5. Argument can also be made for Granlund or Ortio for top 5.

I voted Bennett number 1 for a reason. He has shown to be more effective than Granlund could hope to be.

10/10 would choose McDavid over Ferland. There are some no-brainers, obviously.
