Edvinsson and Quinn are close for me but I think Edvinsson takes it here. Quinn should probably be next though.

So I'm a Habs fan. I notice Slafvosky went 5th. He did have a lot of votes in rounds 1-4, but didn't win. Then in the 5th vote, although he did win, it was still quite close.

I'm curious - how odd/unusual is this? It feels like every year when we rank prospects after the draft, the most recent #1OA almost always ranks #1, or #2 at most.

Is this more a case of people being a bit more down/less sure on Slaf, or simply a case of there being some unusually amazing prospects from previous years who have yet to make their debut?

a little of both. I compare this draft to the Hischier draft where there was no consensus #1. Just not a strong draft where anybody stands out.

Power, Beniers, Sanderson, and Hughes all has great D+1 years, and I think is justified to be ranked ahead.

I'll take the AHL ROTY

Josh Norris won it in 2020 and was only ranked 36th in this 2021 poll! lol but yeah I will start voting Quinn after Edvinsson is finally in. Not sure why Wright and Slafkovsky got voted over them. I guess we gotta give a little credit to that 2022 draft

Edvinsson
Quinn
McTavish
Nemec

A little of both like Amnesiac said but not necessarily down on Slaf, more on the 2022 draft in general. I think many were down on this draft because there was no 1-2 clear cut like we see some years.

Also keep in mind, the Habs didn't get a #1 in a while so a lot of fans probably started voted Slaf early in this poll even if it was "too early" for the rest of hockey fans
