Still a great goalie imo.

Being on a bad team for awhile has an effect both on perception & waning performance, but if it was a fantasy draft or your trading to add a goalie to your playoff team I'd take Gibson.

What's he done that's been great the last few years? Shouldn't goalies who perform well on bad teams be viewed as better though? A good goalie on a bad team must be better than a bad goalie on a bad team. Especially over three seasons.

It's been said in this thread and previous ones. Gibson is by far the most overrated goalie in the league and lives only on reputation.

Quoted for truth.

He's also a negative in goals saved above expected in all 3 of those years.

There are goalies on bad teams, where it's hurt their save percentage and negatively impacted their save percentage to be below the league average, yet still have a positive in goals saved above expected.

Gibson is not one of those in any of those last 3 years.

Stolarz in much more limited action had a positive in both save percentage and goals saved above expected behind the same team. Ryan Miller barely broke below even in goals saved above expected and broke dead even in save percentage in 19-20 behind the same team Gibson was a negative on. However, Miller was considerably worse than Gibson in 20-21, but he was also 40 years old and burnt crispity by that point.

Now, do I think these guys would have fared as well as they did if they had played Gibson's workload/number of games/minutes played? Probably not. But they still performed average to above average, albeit, in limited action while Gibson has not.
