More surprised because I would not consider him our best prospect yet can't see any others being on the list. Good year for him though

Josh Leivo and Matt Finn might be long shots to make the top 40.

HF's bi-annual lists are kind of nuts sometimes.

Well.. no ****.

Have you been living under a rock? They weren't exactly expected to be top prospects at the time; heck, every team passed on them repeatedly.................

Two hall of famers, you would think a website dedicated to hockey prospects would have listed them as honourable mentions at least.

How many 6th and 7th round picks make these lists every year? Both were considered long-shots at best, like every prospect taken that late and both were playing in Europe at that time.

Prospect lists are just that, prospect lists. They aren't crystal balls. Hindsight sure is great isn't it?

That's my point.

Andreas Johnson can become a star in the NHL and these lists have as much credibility as the lists you and I put together.

Anyone can become a star out of a late round. The talent pool in hockey is really close, some players just don't have what it takes to play at the top level.

I hope this hasn't just occurred to you. My opinion is as good as your opinion is as good as their opinion when it comes to players not in the NHL. You never know how the next step goes for any player.

Every NHL team picked 5-6 guys before them in their draft. Why would you think a website/magazine would be more accurate?

The layout of the lists and the fact that they make you wait 2 or 3 weeks for the entire top 50, which usually has tons of mistakes and inconsistencies. Connor Brown isn't even our top prospect but he'll likely be the only Maple Leafs prospect in the top 50. It doesn't add up to their team prospect rankings.

"Stand to improve his defensive game."

Voted one of best penalty killers in his conference by OHL coaches

Penelty killing and playing good d 5v5 is not the same thing. Just as some really good defensive players are not used on the PK.
From what I get Brown is considered a smart guy who reads the play very well and who also works really hard. But defensively 5v5 perhaps he struggle to cover his man/zone while in the more static PK he adjust better?

It is however nice that he gets some recognition. Is it the Marlies next year for him?

Probably (at least I think he is eligible?). He completely dominated the OHL offensively this year. Winning the scoring race by about 20 points, and the person in 2nd was his line mate. Going to the Marlies would start getting him accustomed to playing the game at a higher pace and would start to play against physically tougher players. He has the offense down pat, it's the other aspects of the game that he needs work on.

Let's see what he can do at the AHL level, I think he will pot a few goals and add a few assists, he is still a few years away from the NHL.

Most of the top 50 are recent top picks or players who were drafted in the 1st or second round 3-5 years ago or that odd late round pick. Had Kadri and Rielly still been considered prospects (for example the top 10 has Trouba, Murray, etc.) then we would have 3 in the top 50 which would be above average. I don't know about you but I rather have players graduate to the NHL than have them on a meaningless list.
