Now that it’s 48 hours to the draft I thought it would be fun to do our own mock drafts. Since there are 3 Canadian teams at 14-16 I will include 11-16. Now this is not my rankings or preferences but simply what I think might happen with a short reason. No trades are being predicted because it’s pretty much impossible to do. Hopefully I do better than 1 out 16 correct.

#1 - NYR - Lafreniere
Consensus 1OA for multiple years. If Gorton keeps the pick it’s a guarantee.

#2 - LA - Byfield
Listening to the former LA AGM say how their draft room was all over Kirby Dach because of his size leads me to believe Byfield’s frame will be the deciding factor.

#3 - Ottawa - Tim Stutzle
Dorion stays true to his word and after a few minutes practicing pronunciation he selects the German kid that sounds like Strudel.

#4 - Detroit - Askarov
Yzerman has no fear of taking his player at any point in the draft and is feeling good about the 1st round huge Russian goalie he took in Tampa.

#5 - Ottawa - Raymond
Dorion and Mann debate taking Sanderson but they settle on the dynamic winger

# 6 - Anaheim - Drysdale
After making the idiotic move to send Shea Theodore to Vegas ahead of the expansion draft Anaheim takes a potential top pair RD when they are unable to drop back a few spots.

#7 - NJ - Sanderson
With 3 picks in the first round of forward heavy draft NJ takes the top remaining D over Quinn and Holtz

#8 - Buffalo - Rossi
Buffalo takes Rossi as their long term 2LC. He will spend next year being mentored by Eric Stall.

#9 - Minnesota- Perfetti
While Guerin was hoping that Askarov or Rossi would fall he selects Perfetti and gets the player with potentially the highest upside in the class.

#10 - Winnipeg - Jarvis
Chevy almost pulls the trigger on Schneider but takes the hometown kid with a non stop motor and a high ceiling hoping to have found Bryan Little’s long term replacement.

#11 - Nashville - Holtz
Poile can’t believe his luck and takes Holtz over Quinn in a coin flip hoping that he can help one of their underachieving centres wake the hell up.

#12 - Florida - Quinn
Florida grabs the best NA goal score available.

#13 - Carolina - Schneider
Carolina adds to their depth on D and breaks Leaf fans hearts using Toronto’s pick to select exactly what the Leafs need

#14 - Edmonton - Mercer
The Oilers try desperately to move down but the rules of my mock say no trades. Holland winds up with an excellent future line mate foe one of the 2 big guns.

#15 - Toronto - Guhle
Dubas strongly considers taking Amorim but goes with agile in a tight race.

#16 - Montreal - Holloway
Bergeron adds size to his forward group with a player who had a disappointing freshman season at Wisconsin.

Hopefully a few of you will post your own mocks

Goes without saying

LA- Byfield
I think despite some of the stuff claiming Stutzle they end up taking him. They can handle a long term project and don’t need an impact player immediately

Sens- Stutzle
Goes without saying

Detriot: Drysdale
I’m stuck here between Perfetti, Drysdale, Rossi or Askarov. But gut feeling is telling me Drysdale for some reason

Sens: Raymond
I personally think he will be one of the best players in this draft. Watch this guy skate, his confidence, positioning, his desire for the puck. I think we will get lucky here

Ducks- Perfetti
Don’t know much about the ducks but I feel like Perfetti goes here if not at 4

NJ- Sanderson
Drysdale if he is still here though. They desperately need some defence for the future. Sanderson+ Smith would be a beauty to watch. They also need high scoring wingers but I think they go the defensive route

Sabers- Rossi
Great work ethic and desire to get better. Wish I paid attention more to the 67s this year to see this lad in action. Sabers will be happy with him and strengthen their C depth.

Wild- Lundell
We all know about their lack of C depth. I think they start to fix it here

Jets- Quinn
I’ll take a leap here and say that Quinn passes Holtz. Goal scoring machine, I love it. Wish he was ranked a bit farther down so that we could trade up for him

Preds- Holtz
Don’t know enough about Holtz but I like him here

Florida- Jarvis
Another player I need to know more about but I’m slotting him here ( see the theme as we get lower into the draft lol)

Canes- Askarov
Just a feeling that he doesn’t go any farther than here

Oilers- Mercer
Source: Dude trust me ;)

Leafs- Schneider
Fix that D you f***ers

Also, you beat me to this thread idea you f***er lol, was going to make one tomorrow

my predictions.

1 - Laffy
Duh

2 - Tim Stutzle
Don't see LA taking Byfield just because of risk, its clear as day Byfield has the higher upside of the two potentially the highest upside of the draft. Stutzle is the safer pick to become a legit nhl player of the two. When your picking this high you wanna minimize risk and pick the player with lowest chance of busting while becoming a superstar and that is Stutzle

3 - Quinton Byfield
The left overs of the monster three at the top of the draft.

4 - Jamie Drysdale
Detroit will take the best defensemen in the draft, Drysdale has the potential to change a franchise and Detroit desperately needs that. Could also see Raymond or Perfetti going here, but think ultimately Detroit will pick the coveted #1 RD.

5 - Lucas Raymond
Best prospect available. Ottawa could overthink it and go Sanderson or make a reach pick which is the norm the last couple of years for better and for worse. But I trust the scouts will recognize Raymonds potential to be an elite forward and we leave the draft with Stutzle and Raymond becoming part of our core.

6. i dont care after this point.

I'm not sure the difference between 5 and 7 is the same as 18 and 28, I gotta think we are adding a late second or third round pick to move up that far. Would still do that deal though!

I think it would be the difference if Devils are targeting a defence which I believe they will be. If Sanderson was already gone I have a feeling they would think long and hard about trading up

They would have to believe the teams at 5 or 6 would be picking Drysdale, which I doubt they are. No indication Ottawa wants him and I doubt Anaheim needs him over a top-line forward.

Don't see them giving up 18th in this situation.

They already have 20, I think if they really want a D man and know Anaheim is going to take Drysdale its an easy trade for them to make. They need D really badly in Jersey, they have lots of forwards and still end up getting Perreault and Gunler. I agree in normal circumstances you are probalby right but I dont think Ottawa moves back if they dont make it worth their while. Maybe its 20 instead of 18 but I dont think the sens add.

With Steel, Zegras, Comtois, Kase, Terry and another first round pick in a deep forward draft with only Manson on the rigth side I could definitely see Anaheim wanting Drysdale.

Personally if its me and Drysdale is there at 5 and im the sens im taking him I just dont think thats what is going to happen.
