That wraps up the awesome career for Nuka Seyde. At first glance, the thing that stands out for me is the amount of money this guy has made! As a bottom six guy, he sure made a whole lot of dough. Seyde is a big playmaking forward who can play wing and center. Coming out of the CCHL in his pre-OHL draft season, he put up a respectable 60 points in 60 games. I think that got many scouts in the OHL really excited because he was a big man qho could score a lot. Heading into Peterborough his first season, he killed it. 50 points in 68 games with a +19 rating as a rookie. The future looked bright for him. But he never really took the next step as a forward. His offense really stalled out. The Atlanta Thrashers saw something bright in Seyde though and as such, they took him in the first round 29th overall. Some may have thought because of his size he may earn a spot out of camp, but he was sent back to junior. He set a career high in goals that year in 2026-27! Early on in his pro career Seyde really couldn't get much offense going. He kind of bounced around the NHL getting a cup of coffee with Seattle and then moving on to Kansas City and Edmonton. It wasn't until he signed a nice deal with the Minnesota Wild where he started to get more opportunity. He started shooting the puck a lot more and it started to translate to more offense. From there he had some great years in Detroit, Atlanta and Washington. I also love that he was able to get some experience playing for Finland. He earned that. Seyde is a prime example of a guy who may have started off slow, but really built his career up near the end. Congrats on a great career!

NHL Hall of Famer, 1-Time NHL Stanley Cup Champion, Former First Rounder, Matiss Berzins has finally called it a career! This was one of my favourite winger to track. He was highly touted coming out of HK Riga. Probably one of the top Latvian born prospects. He decided to represent Estonia over Latvia. At the time, this shocked many people. However, Berzins saw this as a challenge for him to really be the leader for a nation on the hockey stage. He was able to get a few bronze medals with Estonia, finishing with 37GP ad 35P. The Maple Leafs, really needed a LW prospect, so when they saw Berzins was available at #29, it was a no brainer to select him. They did right by him by sending him to the Marlies to develop and boy did he ever. He was a dominant force down with the Marlies and was able to come up to the Maple Leafs and be a contributing member of the team. Because the Leafs were so good, Berzins had to fight and claw for ice time. One of the main things I saw from Berzins was that he was a bit inconsistent. He was able to net a huge deal as a UFA with the Columbus Blue Jackets and he had some real bright moments and proved that he's capable of being a high level scorer, there was a lot of inconsistencies. He really found his footing though in a move to the Chicago Blackhawks. He really exploded on the scene having his one and only 40 goal season. He was able to help them win a cup a year later in 2040. That was a proud moment for Berzins, I loved seeing him get that moment. He then bounced around between the Bruins and Canadiens before settling in Edmonton as a 2nd/3rd liner before calling it a career. I wish he played another season to get 1000 points, but this is a solid career one can be happy about. Congrats on a great career!

Mr. Palffy, one of the most underrated and under-appreciated superstars of v20 has decided to call it a career. Drafted 7th overall in a really deep 2025 draft, some may have even argued that he deserved to go top 3 or top 5 in the draft. The 6'4" winger was a star in the making from the outset. He had really great PPG seasons with Slovan Juniors. Then had a good end of season stint with Slovan. He put scouts in the NHL on notice, that he is ready for the pro-game. If I'm being honest I had really high hope for Palffy. He definitely met those expectations. He had a bit of a slow start to his career on his ELC. But in his 4th year he completely broke through and became the star forward Philadelphia was missing for so long. Despite his great seasons in Philadelphia, Palffy was looking for more in his career. He decided to sign in Florida where he played on an insanely stacked Panthers team that just couldn't get it done. Posting multiple 90 point seasons. Palffy was a prime example of an elite scorer. He makes you better by putting the puck in the net and by creating offense. He is one of the most dangerous players in NHL and EHM Superstar History. Scoring 1,438 points in 1,577 career games. One can only imagine how many more points he would have had if the beginning of his career was more stable. He ended off his career in Dallas after a brief stop in New York. One thing about Palffy is, he's loyal to the end. He wasn't a player that moved around a whole lot. He also was a loyal solider for the Slovak National team. Congrats on a great career!

Mr. Money Bags! Noah Sebastian is everything you want in a prospect. He's big, can play center and has a ton of leadership qualities. The Canadian-Born Latvian surprised everyone when he decided to train in Europe instead of going the Major Junior route. Sebastian wasn't the most talented player on HK Riga of all the superstars but he was probably the most pro-ready based on his body and skill set. So much so, that he knew that he would need a few extra years of seasoning before coming over to the NHL. A ton of NHL scouts were worried because Sebastian wasn't putting up the most elite offensive numbers despite getting lots of opportunities. Sebastian struggled offensively even in his early years in the NHL. But he started to find consistency, he was making all the right defensive plays and leading the PK. It wasn't until he signed with the Winnipeg Jets that his consistent offensive play took over. He really became comfortable with being the guy. It was a nice touch to see Sebastian rejoin the Sharks for a final season before retiring. Sebastian finished with 952 career points but he easily could have had more than 1000 if he didn't have such a slow start to his career. Never the less, Sebastian will go down as a top two-way center, who took some time before finding his footing! Congrats on a great career.

PATCHES! Ultimate Hall of Famer and arguably the most successful superstar in the v20 franchise. What a goalie we are paying witness to. Patches really struggled on a not-so-great Upper Canada College team. However, that didn't stop scouts from seeing the great potential this lanky kid had. North Bay knew that they were getting a foundational player and one they could count on to help them win championships and possibly a memorial cup. That is exactly what they got in Patches. The risk of taking a goalie 1st overall proved to be the right one. A big athletic goalie who could make massive saves. Carolina also saw the same things. They did sign Patches 5 days after drafting him and I thought originally that they were rushing him to the NHL. Patches didn't have the most successful first season, but he seamed to find his footing shortly after, becoming a corner stone player for the Carolina Hurricanes. He was stelar in a 1A/1B situation and helped the Hurricanes win a cup 2032. After accomplishing so much with the Hurricanes, Patches was looking for a new challenge and he felt like the best move for him would be to test UFA. Which took him to the Chicago Blackhawks where he won a cup, followed by another move that took him to the Canucks where he also won a cup. Patches is a straight up winner. He's a guy who if you want your team to be in the playoffs, he is the guy you want to sign. His greatness in the NHL has lead to him not having an opportunity to represent the Netherlands besides 1 time. He also holds records for all of his stops besides the Kansas City Monarchs. Patches really had one hell of a career! Congrats.

Andy McDonald, one of the most polarizing players we've seen in this superstar franchise. Despite what Tallasar thinks, I think Andy McDonald had a pretty stable career. He was really great with the Saginaw Spirit and got better within the two years he was there. One thing that was clear about McDonald was that he is a pure sniper. His ability to score goals was like no other. He should have been a key cog in the Monarchs system, but for whatever reason, he could not break through and be a guy who they trusted to be a leader for him. He wasted his first decade in the league as a second line guy when he felt he was capable of more. Finally a trade to the Boston Bruins really helped to elevate the last half of his career. He became that dynamic goal scorer that everyone believed he could be. Even producing a 45 goal season. The main thing about McDonald was he did not have a lot of consistency. He would show some great play, but then never really build on it. This is the case of an athlete with a lot of potential who never really could put it all together to show us what he really could do. I am happy that McDonald was still able to salvage his career and have over 1,000 points and 1,630 games played. He was everything you want in a top 10 pick and more. Can't help but think about what could have been. Congrats on the Hall of Fame career.

Thanks francis for Patches' recap! What a hell of a career, he failed to collect the Conn Smythes but he did have insane playoff stats and win 3 Cups. All with different teams too, it would have been insane had he been able to win with the Monarchs in his last year.

And crazy how McDonald's career ended! We have to remember that the superstars played about 70 games per year in the NHL... over 1200 ots and 1600 games is insane!

Andy McDonald, one of the most polarizing players we've seen in this superstar franchise. Despite what Tallasar thinks, I think Andy McDonald had a pretty stable career. He was really great with the Saginaw Spirit and got better within the two years he was there. One thing that was clear about McDonald was that he is a pure sniper. His ability to score goals was like no other. He should have been a key cog in the Monarchs system, but for whatever reason, he could not break through and be a guy who they trusted to be a leader for him. He wasted his first decade in the league as a second line guy when he felt he was capable of more. Finally a trade to the Boston Bruins really helped to elevate the last half of his career. He became that dynamic goal scorer that everyone believed he could be. Even producing a 45 goal season. The main thing about McDonald was he did not have a lot of consistency. He would show some great play, but then never really build on it. This is the case of an athlete with a lot of potential who never really could put it all together to show us what he really could do. I am happy that McDonald was still able to salvage his career and have over 1,000 points and 1,630 games played. He was everything you want in a top 10 pick and more. Can't help but think about what could have been. Congrats on the Hall of Fame career.

We are fortunate to wrap up the career of Mr. Buche! Definitely one of the superstars who flies under the radar. It's easy to forget about a superstar like Buche because he really didn't play on any power house teams. He kind of got forgotten in the Abyss of the Seattle Kraken organization. The 6'1" scoring winger has been a very consistent and amazing player in the NHL. This is a guy that organizations would love to have. He is a pure playmaker and instantly makes your power play a lot better. He doesn't need a lot of space to create something magical. He was drafted 2nd overall in the OHL Priority Selection and had 3 decent seasons in the OHL. Nothing ground breaking but he showed glimpses of promise on a really weak Niagara IceDogs team. He was then able to make the transition to the NHL and stay with the Kraken as a key 2nd line scoring winger. It was in 2032-33 where Buche really broke out. He began showing signs of that elite playmaking ability and really didn't hold back. Scoring multiple 100 point seasons as a Kraken. He gave everything he had to try and make things work in Seattle with NHL wonder-kid Frans Karjalahti. However he felt he needed to move on, so he had a season each with the Oilers and Jets before signing with his hometown team the Montreal Canadiens. Buche is a well decorated hockey player, having won multiple Art Ross Trophies and Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophies. He was a pure offensive talent and everything you could want in a 3rd overall pick. I just wish he was able to help Seattle get more out of the playoffs. Either way he is a premier hall of famer! Congrats on a wonderful career.

That young amazing kid Karjalahti gave some hope but Buche chose to leave and try out something else.

Can’t wait to see how the new expansions in V20 will do because these last tries were a bit frustrating because of the inability of expansions to do anything in the first 10 years. I think it will be much better in V20.

We say goodbye to one of the most loyal players in this Series. I've seen a few guys play their entire careers in one place, but Stanek really took that to heart. That's one of the things that made Stanek stand out to so many scouts. He wanted to be the guy. He wanted to be the one to lead his teams to victory. Let me start out by saying, Stanek may actually be the best Superstar in v19 from a statistical stand point. He was a dominant goal scorer. His size and skill combination made him the perfect number 1 center. Think Anze Kopitar on crack. A strong, big Two-Way center who can do it all. He started out in Europe with the purpose of coming over to North America and playing a season or two in the CHL. What a wise decision that was because he came over to the dirty ‘Shwa and absolutely lit it up as a rookie euro in the OHL. 85 points, with a 45 goal season. This was a foreshadow of what was to come in the NHL. After being taken 4th overall he really had some great seasons as the 2nd line Center in Quebec, he put up respectable numbers, but as common with other superstars a change was needed. He needed to move on to a team where he could maximize his potential. That’s exactly what he did in Florida, they had outstanding teams and found a lot of success individually. However I think Stanek if he could do it again would try and chase a cup towards the end of his career. But there was his loyalty to the end. He wanted to try and get it done in Florida and they just couldn’t. He will go down as one of the premier goal scorers in league history. Congrats on a great career!

KVS or KVDS. Either way we are set to wrap up the career of this top offensive defenseman. What a career it's been for the 6'3" Right Shot defenseman. He's had a profound impact on the NHL. He is a clear case of why teams shouldn't give up on high draft picks and why players should keep going after it even if things are not easy for them. Van Der Schaaf showed a lot of promise right from the outset. He elected to play the first couple years of his junior career in the German Jr League. He showed an electrifying offensive style of play. Putting up 19 goals respectively in each season. That was good enough to entice teams in the CHL. Saint John was willing to take the risk and took him 2nd overall in the 2024 CHL Import Draft. Going to the QMJHL was a bit of a risk for Van Der Schaaf. But I think ultimately it proved to be the right decision for him. He learned to really hone in his offensive talents but he struggled defensively. This was the same when he got to the Jets. The Jets were stacked on defense, so for Van Der Schaaf, it wasn't that he wasn't capable of playing but his points totals were low because the Jets didn't need to use him in offensive situations. In 2032-33 that seemed to be a break out year for him. His power play numbers started to increase and he began to get the green light. From there a trade to Philadelphia proved to be the best move in his career. His point totals rose, he won his Stanley Cup and won numerous awards. The second half of his career was one for the ages. He was also a warrior for Team Netherlands. Congrats on a great career!

We say goodbye to one of the most loyal players in this Series. I've seen a few guys play their entire careers in one place, but Stanek really took that to heart. That's one of the things that made Stanek stand out to so many scouts. He wanted to be the guy. He wanted to be the one to lead his teams to victory. Let me start out by saying, Stanek may actually be the best Superstar in v19 from a statistical stand point. He was a dominant goal scorer. His size and skill combination made him the perfect number 1 center. Think Anze Kopitar on crack. A strong, big Two-Way center who can do it all. He started out in Europe with the purpose of coming over to North America and playing a season or two in the CHL. What a wise decision that was because he came over to the dirty ‘Shwa and absolutely lit it up as a rookie euro in the OHL. 85 points, with a 45 goal season. This was a foreshadow of what was to come in the NHL. After being taken 4th overall he really had some great seasons as the 2nd line Center in Quebec, he put up respectable numbers, but as common with other superstars a change was needed. He needed to move on to a team where he could maximize his potential. That’s exactly what he did in Florida, they had outstanding teams and found a lot of success individually. However I think Stanek if he could do it again would try and chase a cup towards the end of his career. But there was his loyalty to the end. He wanted to try and get it done in Florida and they just couldn’t. He will go down as one of the premier goal scorers in league history. Congrats on a great career!

Thanks so much, think Stanek accomplished a lot at the international level but unfortunately wasn't able to translate that over to the NHL level in terms of play-off success. One thing that was interesting to me was his loyalty was set as low when I created him but only played for two teams in his career. I think if he had left Quebec a bit earlier he would've broke out sooner but I really wanted him to help Quebec turn into a powerhouse, but being an expansion team on the last DB made that hard. I'm excited that it's fixed for V20!

Overall, very happy with his career. Think he turned into a superstar player who had a ton of individual success but never really translated that to team success even though Florida was quite the power house for a long time. Hopefully my next player can win a few cups!
