Mathieu De Roussy will go down as one of the most consistent regular season threats in superstar history. What I loved so much about Mathieu De Roussy was the fact that he was a pure playmaking forward. He made everyone who played with him better. De Roussy was the embodiment of a franchise guy. The only problem is that his teams never got it done in the finals. He made it there numerous times but just couldn't get over the hump. If I were to look at his legacy it would resemble somewhat of Alexander Ovechkin. Just a dominant offensive player who couldn't bring it home in the playoffs. That being said, his KHL numbers are remarkable and he might just be the best Euro to play in the KHL or NHL. The years he spent in the KHL really helped to shape him into the player he would eventually become in the NHL. One thing is for sure, no one can question the impact De Roussy had on every team he played for. He was loved and adored. I will always wonder what his numbers could have been if he didn't spend 4 years in the KHL.

For a long time Mike Gill was probably one of the best goaltenders in the world. He absolutely dominated junior hockey and will go down as the best junior hockey goaltender ever. He was able to lead his team to an OHL championship every year he was there and win 2 out of 3 memorial cups he played in. He knew how to shut the door. On the international stage he did his thing and helped Canada win one gold medal at the Olympics. He rarely played for Word Championship teams as he declined or he was in the playoffs. Most of his international success came at the junior level. What I appreciated from Gill was his resiliency. After some mediocre seasons in Boston he went to NYI to team up with De Roussy and really elevated his game. They went to a couple cup finals and didn't win but he really proved himself to be an elite goaltender and he made a lot of money doing so. I was happy to see Mike Gill sign with Edmonton and win a cup before retiring. It really cemented a great career.
