I don't think he has to sign if he just hangs around.

If he plays, that's when the contract has to be in. I think.

I mean I guess, but he's saying if it's in April, after the NCAA tourney. He might as well sign at that point (but I guess he doesn't have to). Not sure if he'd be able to hang around or not. I guess he could, a la Mike Fisher.

If the Tbirds are out of it, and we make the playoffs, I would love them to call some guys up, just to practise with the big team. Invaluable.

In that point he is correct, you could use a different example. During the Lock Out no Player was allowed to practice with a Coach nore use the Ice Den as Franchise Practice.
Cause aslong you doesnt have a Professional contract signed, you are not allowed to Practice with the Team.
As i see on the older ELC, Drew Shore played for the AHL PO while his contract only begun the next Season. The Question here does this AHL Rule also count for the NHL without loosing a Year.

IMO when it also count for the AHL Pro LvL then it also should be allowed for the NHL, without loosing a Year.

Has anyone noticed the uncanny similarities between Brock Boeser and Henrik Borgstrom? Both drafted 1st round #23 (15 and 16, respectively), both went college route and look at the stat lines..

Boeser - 74 GP - 43G, 51A - 94 PTS - 1.27 PPG
Borgstrom - 70 GP - 41G, 46A - 87 PTS - 1.24 PPG

I understand they are very different types of players, but this gives me some optimism that Borgstrom can have an impact right away. If he can do anything close to what Boeser is doing in his rookie season, that will be amazing.

You know what Borgstrom also have, the right Body. MacKinnen 6"3 around 205lbs, Barkov 6"3 215lbs, Borgstrom 6"3 208 lbs, Malkin 6"3 193lbs, Staal 6"4 208lbs, Eichel 6"2 205 lbs.Monahan 6"3 195lbs.

Current and future Top Center, have all the same Size and Weight.

Boeser 6"0 192lbs.

It looks like for be a Top Center in the NHL, you need the Size 6"2-6"3 been around 205+lbs.

I'm surprised Borgstrom weighs that much!

Thought he had got up to 195? Itd be nice if he could get up to a solid 200 and cap out at 210 over the next two years. He'll figure out his optimal body weight when he gets 2 years under his belt in the show.

Malkin is only 193lbs? Surprised. He plays way bigger than that.

There was a picture I saw of him the other day in shorts and a tee. He still looks like the same guy who weighed 178 when we drafted him. Incidentally, MacKinnon may be 205 but he's only 6'1". :)

Yes Borgstrom is curent 195lbs, saw a report posted around 205. When you look at Barkov for the size great Weight is.
And MacKinnon is 6"03 also some Page posted like 6"1

But a few Pounds more or less, but the Point is, that a lot of Top Center have the same kind of size, sure there are also some smaller once getting Succes. But those a really rare.

MacKinnon is listed at 6' on about every valued websites... Only Wikipedia has him at 6'1...

Stop creating things to support your opinions, and just tell the truth man... You can't put things out of your behind like that and expect to be taken seriously ! ;)

From the top-50 scorers in the NHL, we only have a few couples of players who are above 6'3...

Malkin, Kopitar, Staal, Barkov, Couturier, Monahan, that's it.

Some are 6'2 like Rakell, Draisaitl and Kuznetsov... You can even add Scheifele and Johansen who aren't top-50 but darn good centermen.

Then ? After after that maybe dozen names, you have all the other elite guys who are all 6'1 or under:

Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, Giroux, Bergeron, Barzal, MacKinnon, McDavid, Seguin, Trocheck...

So yeah, I like Borgstrom size. Like some of the names on this list, he won't end up playing center his whole career IMO, he will be introduced on the wing and will take off from there.

Really glad to have a prospect like him, and a future player like him on our team night-in night-out. He will bring that extra little something we've missed for a long-time.

That was dirty.

We’re gonna have to come up with some puns for The Artist when he makes the team.
