@TSNBobMcKenzie
Hal Gill (NSH), Johan Hedberg (NJ) and Greg Zanon (COL) also on unconditional waivers, presumably for buyout purposes.

@TGfireandice
Johan Hedberg is on waivers today. Not bought out yet, but will be.

Hedberg's buyout will be 2/3 of $1.4 mil ($933,333) paid out over 2 years.

I wonder if anybody will pick him up considering he's on a fair and reasonable contract? Nashville can pick him up to back up Rinne.

It's a shame it needed to be end like that. Only good wishes to Moose.

I feel for the guy...but he's getting up there in years...maybe he should hang em up...sucks that we're leaving a sour taste in his mouth though

He definitely discussed this with Lou. Hedberg must be at least at peace with this path, if not fully on board. Remember, Pandolfo asked for his buyout, it's possible Moose did too.

This quote from Lou tells you what kind of person he is when Lou wants him back in some form after only a few years with the team.

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 22m
Lamoriello also said Hedberg is type of person he'd like to have back in organization in some capacity after his playing days are over.

edit: dammit Lou stop making feel these feelings!

Lamoriello Hedberg buyout: "One of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to be faced with ... because of the quality person he is.”

Seems unnecessary to use a compliance buyout, doesn't it? I wonder why Lou is choosing to do that.
