Some people are insecure about it. I don’t even live in Edmonton anymore but it annoys me when regular people pile on and mock Edmonton, especially Calgarians (very comparable city, they get all high and mighty over chinooks).

People in basements who can barely afford Vancouver will mock Edmonton.

For what it is, for being a smaller city, Edmonton is great. Just having an NHL team and awesome arena is a really cool perk.
People from BC move here because of affordability.

Maybe we could trade straight across for Saros

Yep. Lundqvist broke it down pretty clearly. A lot of goalies are using that approach--the reverse Vertical-Horizontal--to compensate for the pass to the middle that they perceive as the greater threat, leaving that gap over the shoulder open. Saros looks particularly small doing it.

Yeah what happened was lot of Chinese money priced out your average bc folk. I mean it's not uncommon to be paying $4000 a month rent for a 1 bhk.

There are thousands of houses in Edmonton that are 2400 - 3200 sqft $600k - $800k. Much better livability.

In terms of what there is to do in Vancouver I presume everyone is busy working a second job to make ends meet.

Its so easy to cancel this player with a few hard hits and so absolutely predictable too.

The Nucks best player is JT Miller by miles and its not even close. Petey and the midgit are predictably absent in playoffs.

Still love Nurse running Petey twice behind the net. "you gonna cry about that, I'll give you another"

lol at Queen Hughes crying for 5 mins because McD popped one of the huge pimples on his face. This is the ugliest player I've ever seen. he probably picked at his quarter sized pimple to get it to bleed. f***er acts like he's shot. Then Zadorov pretending he was assasinate. Tocchet hates embellishment. Look who's doing it, no surprise. lolol
McDavid did everything but walk out of there with Quinn's girlfriend.

He high sticks the guy right in the face. Cuts him open. Refs don't do anything. Quinn too gutless to stand up for his self respect.

Gets interviewed after the game nervously states "from my perspective mcdavid hit me"😂

Dude have some Honor say straight up "what happened? Entire world saw he high sticked me in the face and I got cut and was bleeding how was that missed?"

Too much of a twerp.

Watched the game at a laundromat in Tokyo...

The Oilers certainly deserved to win, so justice was done in the end. Honestly, I think if they'd lost this one (which they were one shot away from doing) and had gone down 0 - 2 in the series, we're basically looking at the end of the McDrai era. At 0 - 2, the series is basically over, and another second-round elimination means players like Drai have no particular motivation to re-sign with Edmonton when he could cash-in with Philly or NYR, have less pressure, lower taxes, better weather, and shorter flights to Germany. This is a roundabout way of saying that I think A LOT is riding on the Oilers' team performance this playoff, besides just wins and losses for the fans.

So, a lot was at stake here, and the big guys delivered and won the game. The concerning part is that players like McLeod, Perry, and Foegele have done jack-squat offensively all playoffs. Well, Perry at least has had some close calls, but damn he is slow out there. McLeod and Foegele are, at the moment, playoff busts. They each had decent seasons (Foegele was great for periods in the second half of the year), but look completely lost out there on the attack. Derek Ryan is doing his best with limited ice-time, but this season it finally looks like age has caught up with him and he isn't contributing anything offensively either. Kane also isn't doing enough, though at least he scored twice against L.A. (one being a fluky bounce off his jersey).

McDavid, Drai, Bouch, and Eckholm all being on fire are enough, by themselves, for the Oilers to take maybe two games in this series. Add in a hot Hyman and we're talking maybe three games in the series. But those five guys alone are not winning the series. And even if the Oil do get the bounces and somehow squeak through to round three, they'll get swept again (as in '22) if the top guys are depended upon to do everything.

So, what I'm saying is, we need McLeod, Perry, Foegele, Kane, and Ryan to contribute offensively, or we lose to Vancouver. It's as simple as that. (I haven't mentioned young Holloway yet, as I think he looks good, generally, and has scored twice. But it would also be welcome if he'd score again.)

I have nothing to say about Skinner -- it is what it is. He was pencilled-in to be the back-up goalie last season and this season, and he got thrust into the starting role thanks to Campbell's crapping the bed. So, let's just cheer him on and hope he can get that A-game back. He had it for most of the season.

One point of dispute with the forum I'll make is that I don't get the hatred of Cody Ceci. While he has been pretty poor the past two or three games, overall I think he's had a good season again (as he did in 2021-22). While Nurse was God-awful in game one, I thought Ceci was just a bit below-par (he did score a goal, you know, which cancels any one defensive error he made). Frankly, there is a trend developing that whoever is partnered with Nurse suddenly looks bad. We've seen this countless times. Ceci is put in a tough spot as Nurse's partner. The fact that he has as many good games as he does (and he has a lot) is much to his credit, I think.

Finally, I will again punch the tires of Mattias Ekholm. Good God, that guy is a good player. Okay, he is getting older and can be a bit slow nowadays compared to 10 years ago or whatever, but he is also very Nick Lidstrom-like in knowing where to be on the ice and always having good position (i.e., the complete opposite of Nurse). Not only that, but he a point producer and has offensive jam, as we've seen in both playoff appearances now.

Did you guys know how Ekholm ranked in ES scoring this past season? He ranked 11th-best among all defencemen in ES scoring. That was higher than Dahlin, Karlsson, and Adam Fox.

Do you know how he ranked in plus/minus among all NHL defencemen this past season? He ranked third, at +44. That was higher than Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox, and countless others.

(In this tenure with Edmonton thus far, Ekholm is +72 in 100 RS games.)

When Ekholm was on the ice in game two, the shot on goal were 18 for the Oilers, 1 for Vancouver.

He is a bit too old and a bit too slow to be at A+ all the time nowadays, but I will say this: When Mattias Ekholm brings his 'A' game (which is most of the time), he is as good a defencemen as the Oiler have ever had in franchise history. I mean, he is up there with mid-1980s' Coffey and 2005-06 Pronger.

I said at the beginning of the year when we were sliding and Vancouver was riding high.

For Flames, theres provincial rivalry so I expect a little back and forth between fanbases
For Leafs, they are everywhere and so many of them, its inevitable you'll bump into a bad egg
For Nucks though, neither rivalry nor same province but that fanbase, they interject themselves into everything even when not provoked. The most annoying by far

It's not even close. And they truly seem to not know shit for the most part.

I keep asking and nobody that brings it up has an answer… who? Walker/Dumba/etc aren’t upgrades. The only legit top 4 right shot dman who was available was Tanev, and Calgary took a substantially worse package than we offered in order to spite us. So who were we supposed to be getting? It was just an unfortunate year where there weren’t viable options.

If only… even just a healthy Klefa means adding a guy who at 23 was already seen as a top 20 dman in the league.
many ifs. A healthy Klefbom would probably mean no Ekholm, cheaper Nurse. Maybe the forward corps would look substantially different too as Holland would likely make different moves than he ended up making. It's a pointless exercise now.

This series reminds me of the one vs Flames where we got torched in game 1 but then took over afterwards.
Hughes is the defenseman version of Johnny crybaby from that series.
Thats totally valid.
There was a point early in the 3rd period which looked like the confidence of the 2 teams switched.
The Oilers took over game 2 and now they need to ride that momentum.
Just continue to play on their toes and then they will have a great chance to win both home games.

Dallas smoked Colorado tonight. Holy smokes. This playoffs has been anything but consistent. Carolina beating the Rangers tonight, and Dallas holding Colorado to one goal. Crazy stuff !

Can’t wait to see what the oilers can do tomorrow night at home!!

Dallas is a dangerous team. They were down two against games against Vegas, and then won four out of five. If the Oilers get the better of the Schmucks, Dallas may be a harder team to play against than the run and gun Colorado.

I’m starting to think that myself. Their top two lines are scary, and scary defense plus they have a top 5 goalie….

I guess it’s to be expected when you get to the conf final.
