This is becoming an annual occurrence.

The Blackhawks, just a few weeks removed from an appearance in the Winter Classic, are reportedly expected to play in another outdoor game next season, this one a Stadium Series game against Minnesota in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

It would be the Hawks' fourth outdoor game and third in three seasons.

I really thought they were going to be smart and use the Stadium Series as a vehicle to get more teams involved in outdoor games, outside of the 1st year of it where it was NY-CHI-LA in a $$$ recoup after the lockout.

Guess I was wrong and they're totally willing to keep rolling out the same teams as the visitors.

The Russo blog says that the Wild were offered to be the visitors against the Caps but declined because their owner was basically too stuck up to participate if they don't get to host a Winter Classic or something. Same thing with them being offered a Stadium Series game previously.

Apparently now they've figured out they're not getting a Winter Classic unless they play ball with the league so this is happening.
