I didnt watch the NHL or have much knowledge of havlat till he left ottawa and became super injury prone. I have a pretty negative perception of the player he currently is. Saying that maybe he could do the same thing bertuzzi did. Bert had a real positive impact on Binghamton

Just rotate Michalek and Havlat in and out of the roster when one is on a cold streak. They can share the same jersey and just use a velcro nameplate.

They could also just split Michaleks salary. I don't think/see why that'd be a problem

No harm in a PTO but its not official yet so whatever.

Havlat's agent is Allan Walsh, who is a prolific user of social media and notorious for schmoozing the media. If there is anything floating around out there rumour wise about any of Walsh's clients, you can bet that Walsh himself leaked it. He's the one who would have started this rumour in order to get some chatter going about his client...

From the Citizen 2 days ago
Senators assistant general manager Pierre Dorion said Wednesday that general manager Bryan Murray and Allan Walsh, Havlat’s agent, have exchanged phone calls about the possibility of a no-strings-attached tryout in September.

Seems to be more than social media hype leading to rumours

I know he has no real chance of making the team, but...

Havlat was the first player I was a really big fan of as a kid, and the first player I got a jersey of. Him getting traded a decade ago hurt.

Come home, Mach-9. Even if its just for this.

So you're saying that Havlat is all Walshed up.

I'd love to see Havlat back, even if he is a shell of his former self... He was my favourite player on the team for a while.

Honestly, no harm in a PTO; if he makes the team it likely means Lazar starts in Bingo though.

I'd love to see how a line of Michalek - Pageau - Havlat would do, though nostalgia is probably clouding my judgement.

If he makes the team, it could really bolster our depth and allow us 3 scoring lines.

MacArthur - Turris - Stone
Hoffman - Zibanejad - Ryan
Michaelek - Pageau - Havlat
Prince/Puempel -Smith - Chiasson/Neil

Seriously though, he probably signs a 1 year 1 mil contract, and if/when he gets injured, we have a call-up in line to replace him. Very little risk here; if he can provide the ~40 pts per 82 (I know it's actually more like ~20 pts per 41) for us from the 3rd line, that's fantastic. Heck, even if we just use him as a PP specialist it could be a win.

I think he's still at the Phillips's home.

Maybe he was packing stuff from home to move it into Phillip's basement, but I get the impression that he got a pad of his own.

Packing up stuff for my new house and found this "custom" hockey card, I guess playing for the Sens was meant to be!

Havlat was super injury prone before he ever left Ottawa. But while here, he was a highlight reel waiting to happen. Think Hoffman with better hands and hockey sense, but not as good of a shot (he dangled for many his goals).

The guy was good for a breakaway every game but stuck behind Hossa and Alfredsson on the RW, he got 3rd line mins.

No kidding! I don't know if he ever had a one timer in his tenure here! Dangles and wrist shots!

Oh that groin lol.

I kind of want to see Havlat make the team if only for the aneurysms that a handful of posters around here would have.

I am, on occasion, exceptionally easily entertained.

come to think of it, he was a bit like a really speedy Bobby Ryan that would occasionally kick people.

Good times.

That card! I'd forgotten that he'd played for us as a 7 year old and scored a hat trick against Columbus. Ahh, memories.

He has no place on this team. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is.

Agreed. Another GMBM move to get a veteran player that will fizzle out in the end and steal development time from younger prospects who need that experience.
