Dan Boyle: B-, he's been a decent player in the D zone but stellar on the PP
Derick Brassard: B, Not great, but not even close to horrible. His chemistry with Zucc is one to marvel at
Jesper Fast: C, the ceiling is high for fast, but he just doesn't have the tools. Reminds me of a poor-mans-winger-version of Stepan... 3rd liner at best, he should not be seeing top 6 time unless its in a pinch
Dan Girardi: F, he's been an absolute atrocity. Can't move the puck, busted kneecap, the coach keeps putting him out there for "big minutes" when he clearly isn't capable. He's in serious decline; a warm body at this point. Difficult to watch, he can't skate, and is still overly reliant on shot blocking to defend. Terrible all around, and needs to consider hanging them up.
Tanner Glass: C, while he hasn't been a detriment this year, I'm still convinced any AHL fodder could do what he is doing for a little more than 1/3 of his cap hit. Timing has indeed been better and he's been somewhat capable in the offensive zone, but is still punished in the D zone on the regular.
Kevin Hayes: B-, has been very "lazy" and not composed, but he's going through a sophomore slump, so I am willing to give him a pass. His good games have reminded me of last year, and a lot of his struggles are due to the loss of linemates, plus a lack of regular linemates.
Kevin Klein: B+, Steady minute cruncher, still has the best slapper on this team. Has been reliable in the D zone especially before the injury, but has also been solid at moving the puck too
Chris Kreider: D, Completely overthinking the game out there. He's outsmarting himself to the point where he is actually useless. I want to chalk it up to a slump, so I am hopeful he can break out of it next season
Oscar Lindberg: B+, Pleasantly surprised by his play. I know it's dropped off as of late, but as a rookie under AV I was expecting a handful of goals and maybe 20 points, but he's proven capable of playing with any linemate including Nash. Refreshing to see
Henrik Lundqvist: First 20 games A+, last 20 games C+. We know Hank, and we know what he's capable of. I want to chalk his slump up to the team in front of him, but the stats are increasingly showing the opposite
Ryan McDonagh (C): B+, When he is paired with Klein instead of Girardi he has been a pleasure to watch. He has had a number of bad games, which is still concerning, and it's starting to seem like 13-14 was a fluke year. Still, he's capable of putting up 35-40 points
Dylan McIlrath: A, by far the most refreshing ranger to see this season. he's incredible alone the boards, slick with the puck, great at laying huge hits and clearing the crease. If only our coach could use him appropriately.
Jayson Megna: No rating
J.T. Miller: A, since game 20 Miller has also been one of the most refreshing Rangers to watch. He's playing with hustle and fire. He's solid on the puck, quick on skates, and his scoring touch is coming around
Dominic Moore: B-, Age is getting the best of him, and his linemates have been god awful, but he's probably been the most reliable forward all year. Quick on the skates, great PKer.
Rick Nash: B+, even with the lack of goal scoring, he's still been a force to be reckoned with. I do think this is one of his final years where he could even be considered a 40 goal scorer (he's most certainly not hitting it this year). He's been instrumental to our top lines, but I don't see him being a "need" after this season, not at his age, cap hit, and contract status.
Antti Raanta: B+, in the few games I've watched him play, he's been good. Not as good as flash-in-the-pan-Cam was last year, but still reliable.
Marc Staal: C-, unlike Girardi, Staal HAS exhibited the ability to play reliably if he has the right partner. Unfortunately, Boyle is not the right partner for him. Beyond that, individually he's been unable to drive play away from the D zone, and is overly reliant on stick checks and gap control, and is seemingly avoiding contact as of late (have not been able to see him separate the puck from the player recently)
Viktor Stalberg: D+, while he has some good games and some great straightaway speed, he's incredibly unreliable, and is proving to be a 4th liner at best in the NHL... Don't see him returning
Derek Stepan: C, Injuries have set him back, however I'm seeing no chemistry on any line he touches except for with Zucc. Kreider's slump may have more to do with this than Stepan, but it's worth nothing that Stepan needs legitimate top line players to be effect.
Keith Yandle: A+, Absolutely incredible. Magician with the puck. Has a horrendous shot, but his passing abilities are top notch. Yandle-McIlrath was by far the best pairing. His usage is pathetic thanks to AV.
Mats Zuccarello: A-, he has had some bad games here and there, but he's overall been our best forward. Some fantastic chemistry with Brassard and he's also found his scoring touch
Jeff Gorton: C+, considering the contracts that Sather left him with. I want to see a shakeup because there is no way this team can win with the type of play we see now, and it's going to be up to Gorton to get those players
Alain Vigneault: F, His usage and accountability has been completely logic-defying. He's completely out to lunch with some of his assessments. The usage of Glass is cringe worthy, but it's not nearly as bad as it's been with Girardi's usage. Sitting McIlrath for Girardi was pathetic as always, and the "putting down of players" is seemingly getting under the players skin in a very, very bad way.
Scott Arniel: C, Middle of the road at this point. The power play has improved because of Boyle, but that's really it.
Ulf Samuelsson: D-, Ulf has just as much to do with the D as AV does, and quite frankly the 6 different D pairings we are seeing every game drives me absolutely bonkers. Further misevaluation of talent makes you want to bang your head on the wall.
Benoit Allaire: A+, self explantory.
Sam Rosen: B-, He's had some great games when he can actually do the Play-by-Play, but Joe has been a disaster and is ruining Sam
Joe Micheletti: D-, Joe needs to learn when to stop talking when Sam is trying to do PBP... It feels like story time with Grandma when Joe goes on and on about a moot topic/point to the point where you are missing game action
John Giannone: B, between the benches is a gimmick, but I'm enjoying him more than Sam mostly because he can tune Joe out.
Al Trautwig: ---- I mean, it's Al... whatever. lol
