Gudas gets the least amount of blame imo, hes just doing his poorly setup drill by the coaches. Meanwhile Couturier is staring at the puck while skating full speed, isn't that like the very first thing they teach you NOT to do in hockey?

I blame the NHL. If they kept to the every other day schedule instead of this 2 days off BS this would have never happened.

1. I looked like it was Couts own fault for looking down at the puck too long. Gudas backed into him while presumably doing another drill.

2. Kinda looks like it could be a Charlie horse or mild hyper-extension. He'll probably be fine.

Regarding point two: There was a doctor on NBCSN this evening. I believe his name is Jeremy Roenick. He said Couturier might be out 4 to 6 weeks.

Gudas probably wanting to send a message for the slightly obnoxious youngers, however this might backfire if Couturier misses some games..

Might have been wise of him to consult with Dr. Recchi first...
Seriously, hopefully just a bit of bruising and nothing serious.

A really unfortunate accident at the worst possible time.

If Couturier misses tomorrows game, its undoubtedly an auto-loss for the Flyers and that would effectively end the series. A team already struggling to matchup down the middle cant sustain a loss to their 1C and best defensive forward.

That much is certain.

Worst coach in the league.
When I first looked at it, I thought they were participating in the same drill, but after a second look I realized it was 2 separate drills, if he has ran those all year im surprised no one has gotten hurt yet.

It really makes no sense. Id love to hear the explanation for how they allowed a drill in practice to potentially end their season.

It’s weird to me that people are blaming the coach for this.

Teams constantly run multiple drills in practice. Only a fraction of a typical NHL practice is spent in total-team exercises. What you see in that video is totally normal. Hundreds if not thousands of pro hockey players do this stuff every day.

Couturier flat-out ran into somebody because he had his head down. That’s all there is to it. There’s only one person to blame when you skate, walk, or drive into someone because you weren’t looking where you were going.
