Strange, that's for sure. All I can say is maybe this has to do with Malkin and McDavid (two normal leaders in assists) scoring a few more goals this year. Crosby is doing good, but not as high as normal points wise. So basically that is three centres usually right in the thick of things with assists, that aren't.

That only three wingers landed in 1981-1997 is pretty surprising. Maybe not the strongest period for wingers in general, but still. Systems more designed for triggermen?

Josh Bailey pretty much exclusively plays on the wing, so you can include him in your list.

Giroux played mostly on Couturier’s wing last season, but I think he split some of this season cantering his own line. He was most frequently playing on Couturier’s wing though. Without looking, I’d guess that Giroux and Draisaitl have pretty similar splits for W/C this past season.

Also Kucherov and Kane both proves themself as lefthanded RWs which are unusual for NA hockey. Surprising that Kane playes RW as russian style while hes lefthanded. RussiAN wingers mostly plays at OFF wing ( lefty at RW) countraty to NA wingers (lefty at LW)
