The lists use the 62 goalies I have complete records of, including saves in OT. They include only 2 of the 17 goalies that played an OT game this playoffs. They don't include Cup winners such as Kuemper and Binnington.

I've worked my way down to #66 on the all-time PO wins list, but have incomplete records for a handful of goalies from the 50s and back (Broda, Durnan, Lumley, Brimsek).

Finding complete stats can be an adventure some times. The NHL period breakdowns for shots don't even go back a decade, and somehow they lost the opening day of the 2021 playoffs when they moved it to the all-time results list.

Can confirm that it's an adventure (and that undersells it) - the official NHL accounting doesn't include shots by period for goaltenders in the "big update" era (before 1999-2000 I believe). So you end up back in the good old days with microfilm accounts - and then you need to decide what to do when the new NHL numbers don't match what was reported in the press back then.

For example, if all contemporary newspaper accounts for Joe Smith in 1975 had shots of 11+9+10+5=35, and the NHL now says that Joe Smith had 37 shots in that game (without a period breakdown), what do you say about shots by period and particularly in overtime?

I've been retro adding best estimates to my dataset and it stinks. BM, I have the full 2021 playoffs as reported if you need data from there by period.

Roy 2 others games would be against the Kings I think 2001 and 2002 versus Potvin.

Which give a reason why I would imagine and not be too surprise for the W-L record to be low and getting close to 50-50, not just that the nature of a 1 goal sudden death situation would tend to do that regardless, but because for many on that list their games will be against a goaltender also on that list.

To find the list of games if you have the TOI, I imagine using in your code something like

If (iceTime above 60 minutes)
if (GA == 0 and Wins == true) or (GA == 1 and Wins = false)
shutoutOvertime = true

Could make a list with almost all of them ( i imagine it is rare for it to happen for both goaltender on both teams no not have played at least 60 minutes, but it could happen on an early OT goals and could use some refining).

Not surprised to see Cujo have such a good save % in the playoffs. I have to imagine most of that was during the first round of the playoffs, in which he would tend to take over.

I honestly don't recall Cujo losing many OT games as a member of the Leafs. He was phenomenal in OT when I watched. I imagine the same as an Oiler as well.

If my math is right, Luongo's teams scored 1.57 goals/60 minutes in overtime. Very hard to win, even if they're getting excellent goaltending.

Very possible to have less powerplay in playoff overtime which could turn into less goals by 60s and you have tired player that can make mistake but everyone playing really cautiously fighting that the other way around.

And you would never have a scoring effect situation (goal score gap that make a team take more chance rising both their GF but their GA against even more) for any of those OT minutes versus an regular time average scoring

Among the 62 goalies in the tables, the GAA is 2.29 in regulation, and 2.25 in OT, but GF jumps to 2.56 in OT, so total Goals/60 is up in OT.

Hall had more OT games in 1968 than in the rest of his career.
Roloson has the longest average OT here at 24:45, but Lorne Chabot is the leader at 28:27 with the 2 longest OT games in his 11 OT game record.

Playoff overtime can be a bit of a crapshoot in that sometimes the greats have a pedestrian record who we know were good overall. For example, I've said this before, but how the heck was Brodeur that lousy in playoff overtime? 16-24. Those aren't his type of numbers. Meanwhile Anti Niemi is 12-4.

One that surprised me was Dryden at 8-8. Now, I know generally the only way you could beat the Habs in those days was in overtime, but for his stature and the team in front of him it surprises me. Here is a crazy stat: Dryden lost 32 playoff games in his career and 25% of them were in overtime. So that sort of corroborates what I thought before.

Some of them check out like you expect. Roy, Smith, Fuhr all due what you would assume. Fleury is 12-17. Meh. He did have some playoff boners so I guess it makes sense.

But here are surprises. Potvin is 15-5. Liut is 10-5. Giguere is 12-1.

Devils scoring only 16 goals in 10 full game worth of ice time, it is maybe not all time awful, but that sound very low at 1.6 goal a game pace, Roy Habs were scoring at a 4.75 goals a game pace in OT for a comp. Obviously a goaltender that win and make your teams the one that score regardless of the time it take help that measure to rise up, so it is not independent of their performance fully, but that would be a major factor here.

Playoff overtime can be a bit of a crapshoot in that sometimes the greats have a pedestrian record who we know were good overall. For example, I've said this before, but how the heck was Brodeur that lousy in playoff overtime? 16-24. Those aren't his type of numbers. Meanwhile Anti Niemi is 12-4.

One that surprised me was Dryden at 8-8. Now, I know generally the only way you could beat the Habs in those days was in overtime, but for his stature and the team in front of him it surprises me. Here is a crazy stat: Dryden lost 32 playoff games in his career and 25% of them were in overtime. So that sort of corroborates what I thought before.

Some of them check out like you expect. Roy, Smith, Fuhr all due what you would assume. Fleury is 12-17. Meh. He did have some playoff boners so I guess it makes sense.

But here are surprises. Potvin is 15-5. Liut is 10-5. Giguere is 12-1.

Brodeur wasn't lousy, more above average than great, but certainly not lousy. Only 16 of the 62 goalies have better GAA in OT of losses, and only 18 have a better SV% in OT losses.

What drives his low W-L record in OT is the Devils ability to score OT goals. He had goal support of 1.62/60 in OT. Only 4 of the goalies had a lower support, and the average is 2.56/60.

Just counting Brodeur's OT wins, he has a goal support of 3.83/60. 14 of the 62 goalies, and Roy in Montreal, have a better goal support than that across all OT.

The average OT is 12:29, but it took the Devils an average of 15:40 to score in the 16 games where they did score in OT, or 37:02 over all 40 OT games.

Bobrovsky is on an 11 game OT winning streak, and is 15-4 with a 0.93 GAA and a .967 SV% in 258:21 of OT.
