Goals per game each year

I did a quick little comparison of Crosby vs Gretz and Mario last night(thread here). First thing I figured out was the goals / game this year and I was shocked. 5.76 seems extremely low. Wasn't it about 6 last year? I have 80 thru 90, but was wondering if anybody had that space between there and now?

5.76 is about average over the history of the NHL.

I think the all-time average is closer to 6.11.
