Flirting with the idea of trading one (or maybe both) of Pietrangelo and Tarasenko. Would be looking for 2-3 high end futures pieces in exchange for each one.

Max Pacioretty remains on the block. Have had some good discussions with interested teams. Something based around a 1st round pick is the going rate.

Philipp Grubauer
FLA 2018 2nd Round Pick

Alex Nylander
BUF 2019 3rd Round Pick

The Washington Capitals are happy to announce the acquisition of Swedish prospect Alex Nylander from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for goaltender Philipp Grubauer.

It was apparent after Phillipp’s stellar play over the past season that he was ready to take the reigns with his own franchise and we wish him all the best in Buffalo.

The Capitals see Alex Nylander as a wildly talented forward prospect who has struggled since his transition to professional hockey, but we strongly believe that he will be a top-6 forward going into the future under the tutelage of Nicklas Backstrom and company.

Confirm. We believe when given the chance Grubauer will really excel in a starting role. While we like Ullmark and his potential, we would prefer to see first how he does in backup role and create internal competition to push Grubauer who we see as a big part of the future success of the team.

We wish Nylander luck and hope the change of scenery gives him the kick he needs to motivate him to become an NHLer someday. It hurts to lose someone with his potential but there was far too much risk there and something had to change as we try and change the culture our organization.

With this trade, we can now shift our focus to changing up our skaters. We are still open to moving O'Reilly or Ristolainen in many different types of deals (except solely future based ones or ones for past-their-prime vets).

Talking trade on Gardiner and zaitsev. One will likely move.

Jvr and bozaks rights can be had for less than JTs cost ;)

CMac available for anyone wanting a solid #2. Pickard also on the market for cheap, as I'm going a different direction in net. Matt Martin and Carrick's rights will also be cheap

All picks including 1st in play to upgrade my team. Keep in mind I gotta sign my big 3 by 2019, so expensive veterans won't be that interesting

Amongst other assets we're testing the market with, Mats Zuccarello is a playmaking wizard that can pay either wing. He's a 60+ point winger that pound per pound is as tough as anyone. He plays bigger than his size and has paved the way for smaller players to offensively dominate the game today. I'm looking for a 1st, but if you want to talk 2nd and prospect, or good prospect no pick, I'm gauging his market. An inexpensive pickup that adds notable offense. Don't sleep on Mats.

General list of assets:

Kevin Shattenkirk
Brady Skjei
Pavel Buchnevich
Chris Kreider
Ryan Spooner
Mats Zuccarello
Jesper Fast
Jimmy Vesey
Kevin Hayes
Matt Beleskey
Peter Holland
Marc Staal

@FridgeHNIC Rumor has it that the Blue Jackets are currently shopping the likes of Milano, Jenner, Foligno, Dubinsky, Savard, and Murray.
