what capital are they supposed to use to get more help? THey are at the cap. Things are only getting worse in Edmonton. Let's assume they are going to Drai, McDavid and Bouchard. That cap hit alone is $35-38 on 3 players. Now include Nurse's contract and you have $45 mm on 4 players. You can't afford to back that up. Look at the LEafs. They have been there for 8 years now. All that money tied up in the big 4, they can't afford to support them. Edmonton is in the same boat. They wasted McDavid's prime and now they can't afford to build a team around him.
38 on 3 players? What are your projected salaries for each?

They have too high of expectations. Yeah the Blackhawks , Penguins, and Avalanche won cups with a few stars players and little goaltending. But they had a little bit more depth to them

You got things like Kessel going on a tear on the third line , and Kadri putting up hat tricks against St.Louis. They aren't getting bailed out instead they lose games they dominate
Pens and Hawks had cap circumventing grandfathered contracts. Avs had a superstar playing on an aberration of a contract making 50% of his worth. Tough models to copy. Even the Avalanche are having a hard time supporting their high paid trio with proper depth.

Fans are not up in arms about reffing tonight....Last game yes, given the 12 year past playoff history with kelly sutherland he was a massive talking point on the radio.
Why was that an issue? Did you even check what the Oilers record was with Sutherland?

IT'S WORSE THAN THE CANUCKS.

They have 1 more year of those "big" 3 making only 24.9m against the cap.
That's the last year they can realistically go for it, they need to get out of Campbell and Kane, They're stuck with Nurse nobody is taking that contract from them. They have 2 of their next 3 1st round picks likewise with 2nd rounds.
They can augment their team, but they need a GM who's career, wasn't built around inheriting a roster with Yzerman & Lidstrom and no salary cap to work in.

Your version of the truth is unimportant
lol. Again, you can’t handle the truth your overpaid whiny baby can’t get it done when it counts most. Maybe if he had left some money on the table like a truly great leader does, he might have a better team around him. Or more so, if he actually played both ends of the ice.

"Overpaid whiny baby"

This stuff makes your opinion irrelevant.

Have a great day

Penguins did not have any cap circumventing contracts unless you are referring to Crosby.

He is an overpaid whiny baby.

He’s taking up 15% of your team’s total cap amount.

Cries to the refs & is willing to take cheap shots.

Again, you can’t handle the truth.

Have a nice day.

Maybe Edmonton could tank for the next decade to spam draft first overall again until they get some adequate talent to help McDavid?

Wait that strat might not work.

Oh please, do tell the cap circumventing contracts the Pens had. This ought to be good.

Maybe GMs Jackson and McDavid can finally get some proper help this summer, instead of signing plugs like Connor Brown.

Crosby's cap hit in 2009 was 15.8% of the total cap, which is higher than McDavid's percentage cap hit this year.

McDavid is drastically outproducing the opposition when he's on the ice. Is his defense really the problem?

When it counts the most would presumably be the playoffs, where McDavid has put up 70 points in his last 36 games.

This is a dumb and bad take all around.

See if you can spot it

Entirely allowed under the terms of the CBA at the time. The fact this was changed after the CBA was changed afterwards is irrelevant. That’s how contracts work. You honor the deal.

So again, please do tell the cap circumvention when it was agree to by both players & owners.

You have nothing. Just like McMuffin.

Maybe just maybe. Splitting up 2 forwards who are considered top 5 in there position/world should I don't know be split up?

They literally can have depth but the fact you have the two beat guys on some unbeatable line is going to leave holes in the line up.
