Earth...how about you?
Maybe I shouldn't have cheered for USA tonight...they scored too many goals!! Now they'll be all confident going into tomorrow's game and that's not good for Russia...I don't know if Russia can beat USA...

rautio just had one game, so you can't say he was better, but he came off a strong game. that's a fact. and heino-lindberg's shutout was against germany. c'mon...they don't even shoot the puck. besides finland's rask every goalie had a SO against them.

I don't wanna argue too much over details, but Slovakia isn't exactly a strong team either this year. I have to say that I didn't see the SVK-SWE game, though. Did you?

Hehe, you might want to fresh up your european history. Yes, Sweden has been "neutral" (meaning, secretly helping whichever side they think has a shot at winning) the last 200 years, but the country actually has a pretty bloody war-filled history.

there's no neutral country in the world, that's for sure.

wasn't it a bit more than just 200 years ago when sweden tried to enter the world or at least the east sea? i know they were in northern germany for a while, but i thought it's way back in history.

oh boy, it's easy to say someone's better when he didn't start the game.

it was the right choice to start rautio, he came off a shutout while heino-lindberg was awful in this tournament. now rautio had a bad game, so we know that it doesn't matter who's in goal, sweden has a goalie problem. but that's not really new.

Lindberg also had a shutout in this tournament.

Lindberg got destroyed by Canada.Everyone sweden players were so brutal.

Rautio got destroyed by Usa.Sweden played an average game.Well better then vs Canada.

IMO Lindberg would have do greater then Rautio. He already had a day-off before this game,Oh boy when Lindberg has energy we all know what He can do.

The swedish top line was pretty impressive, despite the result. Can they come back next year, or will they be too old?

if Russia can play a sound defensive game, they will win.

Hehe, well actually I'm not a very big fan of how my country is being run and the way the army is run is a big part of it. Comparing Finland with Sweden, especially over the last 10-15 years is very interesting. It seems to me that Finland has done most things right while Sweden has turned into some socialistic progressive politics experiment with very bad results. Maybe I should just move. I like finnish people and they have better beer.

Not sure on Salmonsson, but I know Nilsson and Eriksson will be too old(I assume thats who you are referring to).

Well, last I checked, Heino-Lindberg had one shutout too, so how was Rautio's tournament so much better?

Heino-Lindberg could hardly be blamed for the Canada debacle whilst the meltdown agaisnt the Finns was mostly due to the defense from what I srumised (I didn't watch that game). I think the Swedish coach made a terrible tactical decision. He decided to go with the 'hot' goalie, which was highly debatable as he faced much weaker oppnents than than Heino-Lindberg. The Swedish staff was pretty incompetent from what i have seen of them, which is two games. In the game agaisnt Canada, the defence was completly run down and Heino-Lindberg had to challenge every Canadian shooter way too much. During the second period the Canadians shifted tactics by overextending him yet the coach did not tell him to adjust. Partly his responsability but also the coaching staff's. Rautio had a good game against the Slovaks, a good team but by no means elite. From what I saw of him during this game, he can't cover his angles. Heino-Lindberg during the Canada covered his angles great but just couldn't play defense too. I truly believe that if Heino-Lindberg was on par of his usual game, the Swedes could have won the game. Sure it eneded 8-2 but for 2 periods it was equal to perhaps favouring the Swedes despite the US lead. The meltdown that occured should be discarded. The first and third goal and fourth goal were just atrocious and that was the end of that. Twomorrow will be a great game.

no i didn't. but slovakia is at least able to score, so rautio had to save at least a few good shots. germany is not able to score, they're not even able to shoot. i wonder if there was a worse team than germany at the WJC. you don't need a goalie against them.

ROFL....yeah, riddarn - I was a little worried about that too, dude. Too funny tho, for sure.

I think Sweden gave the USA boy's a run at the start of the game....things were pretty tense on that bench for the first period and at least half of the second - I know it's not much of a consolation, but I don't think they looked as bad as the score would suggest. But, we all know how it goes in hockey games...once a good team gets on a roll like the US just did, it's pretty hard to stop the moving train.

Of this years team, Salmonsson, Bergfors, Svensson, Karlsson, Hellström, Strålman and Hedman are eligeble for next year. Salmonsson, Bergfors and Hedman are locks for that team imo.

Yes, thanks. That's bad news for the team. Are there any promising guys in the U18 group who could become Salmonssons linemates next year? If there are, he could really dominate.

ehm...could we agree that sweden was ruined by socialdemocrats, not socialists. not that i like the latter either, but i pretty much hate the idea of socialdemocracy and their history. traitors over and over.

and i think there's no use for any army, but i guess i'm almost alone with it.

i don't know too much about finland besides their girls, but that's pretty much the same i do know about sweden as well. ;)

Well, he isn't better than Ditka.

or even a Mini-Ditka.

The Swedish posters can probably answer this better than me, but I would imagine Bergfors will be given a larger role on the team next year with Nilsson and Eriksson both gone.

I say socialists because they put collectivism over individualism. But really the damage isn't done by their socialistic side, the worst damage is the progressive experimental politics that I know Germany has suffered from as well.

There are actually quite a few nice players born '87 that could take a spot on the team next year. Also the depth in the class of '86 is pretty good so there could be some nice development there.

I'm not too worried.
