It's IS a process and that is what should always be followed! Unless you are a contending tea that needs that last push to put you over the top, trading a 1st rounder should IMO be last resort. Unfortunately for the Sens this is a process that has been squandered so badly that we have to reset, at least backup the bus somewhat.

I don’t know. First rounders can still be buggered up bad no matter how early or late. Normally late firsts get very overrated as lots miss.
I’m also still bitter about the 2021 draft and remember wishing we would’ve traded that 10th overall for a Sam Reinhart. A trade which Buffalo probably accepts seeing that they end up trading him that same July for Floridas 2022 1st and a goalie prospect. Who knows how it would’ve worked out in the long run had we snagged a Reinhart but can’t have been worse than this supposed ‘safe’ pick in Boucher
