Omg I was wondering if he might have touched it. They didn’t show many angles to see if the puck was tipped. Awesome!

Tomasino is put in the box as a substitute for Kunin because he can not leave the box when the minor penalty expires. But Kunin must serve the full time of the penalties. The 5 minute major does not start until the conclusion of the minor penalty, be it by way of the opponent scoring or time expiring.

Since Ottawa didn't score during the 5v4 Tomasino came out of the box at the conclusion of the penalty during play. At this point Kunin had served his 2 minute minor and the 5 minute major started. He was in the box for 7 full minute.

Edited to add to this a little:
The Predators could decline to put someone in the box as a substitute for Kunin during the minor penalty but if time expires on the penalty while the puck is in play they aren't allowed to put the extra skater out from the player bench, that extra player is only allowed to enter the ice from the penalty bench, they would have to wait until the next regular stoppage of play to get a 5th skater on the ice.
