Habs coming off a 3-2 regular time loss to the Figs, a moral victory of sorts considering where the Habs are at in their rebuild/ retool/ whatchamacallit.

This past weekend was eventful for other reasons as well.

It was time to Spring Forward, adding an extra hour of daylight to our evenings, until November.

It was also the Academy Awards. And they only really matter because one of our own came away with 3 Oscars.

Hughes was not the GM that did the best on Trade Deadline Day, however, he managed to nab a decent pick for Jake Allen while breaking his season-long goalie logjam. And that pick adds to the team's already massive drafting leverage.

It will be a special night tonight at the Bell Centre. There will be a ceremony honoring Pierre Houde's brother Paul, who was a beloved broadcaster, comedian and actor and who passed suddenly at the age of 69 recently.

But wait, there's more.

At long last, an NHL team issues a bobblehead that faithfully reflects the attributes of its featured player.

In other news, Marty has announced that Cayden Primeau will be starting, which is a good thing. Habs already know what they have in Monty, thus it could be advantageous to use the bulk of the few remaining games in the season, to see what Primeau can do.

However, which Primeau will show up? Will it be Optimus Prime or DéPrimeau the Tank Commander?

It will be after all, a Tank Battle, given how both teams are bottom feeders.

Going through the type of roster upgrading the Habs have been implementing since the naming of HuGo, it's a rocky road that often reminds us of how much time, effort and resources are needed to achieve a competitive roster.

It would sure be nice to be on the other side of it, just like the main character in The Shawshank Redemption.

However, we still have ways to go so we too, like the protagonist in The Shawshank Redemption, can fully relate:

"Andy Dufresne, the man who crawled through 500 yards of shit and came out clean the other end".

Positive visualization might be one way to get through it.

Back to reality and the now, we are reminded how some players are stagnating. Jesse Ylönen is one of those players. He's a toolsy guy who seems to have a lot of upside but somehow, he's not showing it.

Which incited @Hannibal to dub him last Saturday, "Ylonen the Vanilla".

And that prompted an idea.

Vanilla + Ylönen = a product is born.

Introducing ...

Hoping he can find another gear otherwise he'll soon be peddling Vanylönen in a Euro league somewhere.

Despite this season's downturns, some levity can emerge from unexpected sources. In recent weeks, the Habs went through a stretch where they were being assessed an inordinate number of penalties, while their opposition seemed to get away with it.

In the midst of all that, is there a more evocative facial expression than that of Tanner Pearson, in this shot:

Thankfully, we were able to apply an augmented reality filter, to see what was in fact, going on.

And finally, for those of us who catch AC after games, there is no greater eyesore than a bunch of lame, poorly dressed pundits, sitting in oversized armchairs.

That’s when you can always count on Norman Flynn, to deliver these beauties:

Just when you might have been thinking that only his hockey takes were absurd.

I’d like to see them put up 6 goals for the first and only time this season.

Next 6 games:

THU vs BOS
SAT @ CGY
TUE @ EDM
THU @ VAN
SUN @ SEA
TUE @ COL

They return home after COL, but that is not the end of the gauntlet lol

Let's launch us into those next 6 games with a regulation loss.

5-4 Jackets.

Slaf, Suzuki and Caufield each with 2 points.

Roy and Newhook each with a goal!

Another Runner Stunner.

I was thinking Andy Dufresne might make a great AGM.
He'd definitely be someone good to have in the front office he thinks a "Wicked" long game.
Probably good with the Cap too. :sarcasm:

Columbus is 10-8-4 all-time in Montréal, and 20-15-5 in all meetings.

The Jackets are 0-3-1 in the last 4 against the Habs. The CBJ are 3-1-2 in the last 6 inside the Bell Centre.

I'm trying to get my head around the 0-3-1 in 4 and the 3-1-2 in 6 at the Bell Centre
What did we have and win like three road games in a row against them. :dunno:

The good news is we suck against them at home which is what I remember.
Not to mention we are due for a stinker.

This is going to be a blowout. Habs will destroy the BJs. Is Slaf playing? I heard he had some therapy days or something. Could have been massages.

Jackets fan popping in with a fun fact: Shawshank was filmed about an hour north of Columbus in Mansfield at the old Ohio State Reformatory (not to be confused with the old Ohio Penitentiary, which was located on land that now houses Nationwide Arena).
Solid info, but... did you know that Jeff Petry's father played for Detroit Tigers?
