Concluding a four-game road trip against Central Division opponents, the San Jose Sharks come to Xcel Energy Center on Sunday looking to get back in the win column after back-to-back losses against the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks.
In those two games, the Sharks have been outscored by a combined margin of 10-2, including a 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks on Friday night. San Jose won the first game of its trip, 3-2 in St. Louis on Tuesday.
Minnesota won the first meeting of the season between the clubs, scoring a 4-3 overtime victory at SAP Center on Dec. 10.
Eric Staal scored twiceas the Wild built a 3-0 lead early in the second. Brent Burns scored late in the second and early in the third, and Tomas Hertl tied the game with 5:01 left in regulation to send it to overtime, where Minnesota's Nino Niederreiter notched the winner at 3:26.
Burns leads the Sharks offensively, posting 41 assists and 51 points in 62 games played. Logan Couture is the team's leading goal scorer with 25 in 58 games. Plover, Wisconsin native Joe Pavelski has 15 goals and 46 points in 62 games.
Goaltender Martin Jones is 19-16-5 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage this season. Jones has allowed two goals or fewer in each of his past six starts and in nine of his past 10 overall.
