The Opponent
Winners of six of their past eight games, the Pittsburgh Penguins enter Thursday's contest against the Wild on the heels of a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Minnesota won the only meeting of the season between the teams, scoring a 2-1 win at Xcel Energy Center on Oct. 28.
Evgeni Malkin scored 11:52 into the contest, but Daniel Winnik tied the game less than two minutes later. Mikko Koivu scored the game-winner 9:03 into the third period.
Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk made 29 saves.
The Penguins are led offensively by Phil Kessel, who has 21 goals and 55 points. Sidney Crosby has 35 assists among his 52 points. Malkin also has 21 goals with 49 points.
Goaltender Matt Murray could return after missing about a week following the death of his father. Murray is 15-12-1 on the season with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
